Q: I have a considerable base of my portfolio in CDN banks. The share prices are approximately flat from where I bought them. Is there any catalyst to make banks outperform in the next year or 2? It feels like there have to be sectors that will bounce well with a recovery and wondering about diverting some funds there to try to catch the bounce on a return to travel and the like. I have nibbled at Air Canada and wonder about some other names that have a high likelihood of surviving and bouncing nicely. Canada or US, moderate risk is OK. Thanks!

Q: Trimmed my SHOP (thank you for that one!) above 1500 as it got to be too big part of my overall portfolio. I'm considering WYNN, WSP, EXPE or BKNG with the proceeds to buy now. Probably will buy 2. I have lots of industrials already but little in the way of recovery trades. Please rank them in order of preference please. Merry Christmas and Best wishes in 2021. Martin

Q: I join those who have sent their compliments and thanks. My success has had much to do with your info and advice.
Please suggest a few industrial and consumer cyclical stocks in Canada and the US for a person with moderate risk tolerance.
Stay safe and have a good year.
Thank you.

Q: Hello Peter & team,

Read a report that stated bank deposits are up considerably. Reason... It appears People are banking funds without having the opportunity to take their annual vacations because of Covid. Vaccines are in the process of being distributed. There will be an end to the lock down eventually, and when that happens people will be biting at the bit to travel. I know I am.

My question... I'm thinking the beneficiaries of this pent up demand are going to be Cruise Lines, Airlines & Hotels. (plus anything else you can suggest) Are you able to tell us - your loyal 5i family - which companies we should be targeting which will benefit once everyone starts being able to travel again? And if you could, please provide your futures opinion on Air Canada which is still down 50% (approx) compared to it's pre-covid highs. I am seriously considering a strong position and would like to know your thoughts.

Thanks for all you do

Gord

Q: I realize that you ( much like I ) are growth investors. However I’d like to play the risk on trade and am looking for 5 beaten down US value names that would have good bounce back potential. Can you rank your choices? Thank you

Q: I am an experienced investor and for years have been selling short strangles, in the money puts and out of the money calls around some of my core position stocks, such MSFT, UNH, SRPT etc with good success.
Last week, I sold naked positions around NFLX, picking Jan 15/2021 expiration, which is before they report earnings and expecting NFLX to be substantially range bound until then.

Sold  NFLX 01/15/21 455 PUT at 15.10
Sold  NFLX 01/15/21 515 CALL at 16.10

The trade is profitable between $424 and $546 and in an unlimited loss position outside the range (a risk I am prepared to accept).

My question is, do you have any stock recommendations, for stocks whose prices are not likely to fluctuate a great deal over a a defined period of time, or any screening methods to identify such stocks, so as to trade puts and calls as I described?

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Q: Thank you so much for your recommendation on WYNN, GC, BKNG, LUV. They went up a lot.
I still have some cash that I would like to invest.
Are there any stocks that are still undervalued even after recent vaccine news? Or should I just wait for them to dip again? Thanks!
