Q: Franco Nevada is my only gold holding. Down ~15% on it. I want to add more to gold, should i add more to FNV or is there a better gold stock you like more? How is FNV priced in terms of P/E or whatever ratios you think are most relevant and how does that look vs peers?

I was thinking just the actual gold ETF, but i think a miner would have more torque iuf gold prices rise. I like the royalty model

Q: My allotment to precious metals is now down below my target of 5%. I need to add to bring up this part of my portfolio. I have a full position in AEM. Which of PAAS, SSRM, BTO, KRR or FNV should I add to at this time? Or do you have another precious metal company that would be appropriate at this time?

Q: Considering taking a position (up to 2%) in a dividend paying oil/gas company, and looking at FRU or WCP. Could I get your comments on the royalty structure vs a producer, as well as a comparison of the metrics such as payout percentage, debt, guidance, etc. Do you have a preference, and would you even consider adding an oil producer at this time. I have some ETFs with small positions in some oil companies, but no direct holdings of my own.
Thank-you

Q: I want to get into gold stocks and have always preferred Franco Nevada in the past. Should I look at buying some of it now, and what other companies would you recommend to complement it if I do? (In the same sector) Thanks

Q: I saw this comment today.

We expect that its royalty interest will be upheld in international arbitration. Although not imminent, this royalty which accounts for 22 per cent of its net asset value represents excellent upside optionality once Franco Nevada and operator First Quantum Minerals has its day in court.

What are your thoughts on:
1) Has the market basically written off this royalty stream in FNV's stock price at this point?
2) Great buy at this point given bonus upside down the road when things hopefully resolve and they recover something.
3) Would you sell WPM to buy FNV given this? Though WPM has higher potential returns given its silver exposure i think.

Q: Hi 5i,
I hold above stocks 2%, 1.5% and less than 0,5% of fortitude. Thinking of selling Fortitude to add to my now decreased position in FNV. Which do you think has more upside? If even, given recent FNV decline and lower risk, I might go for more FNV as I am becoming more conservative. I am OK to take some higher risk given Fortitude is a small position.
Your thoughts please on FNV and Fortitude and suggested strategy.
Thank you.

Q: Gold above $2050 would be bullish I think. Wondering what your thoughts are on this asset category at this time and looking for your top two large and small cap picks that would have torque to a higher gold price.

Also a comment on the dividend sustainability of B2 would be appreciated.

Thanks folks

Q: Good morning,

Do you think it may be prudent to swap out Franco Nevada shares now (considering the growing list of political/legal headwinds) for something else?

If so can you give a Canadian suggestion for gold exposure, along with two other picks (any sector) for a possible year-end through January bounce (CAD or US)? Thanks. Brad

Q: Hello Peter,
I've held FNV shares as my gold allocation since Q4/2018. Currently, I have a "reasonable" return of 8% per annum including dividends. With all the legal drama FNV is realizing in Panama, is it wise to sell FNV and buy another streamer or hold FNV for the long run?

Sitting with a taxable cap gain of 28%. Seems like the impact of FM is going to be significant for future earnings. Please advise your wisdom. Thank you.

Q: What do you think of the following news about FNV? Thank you

Cobre Panama Supreme Court Update

TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2023 /CNW/ - Franco-Nevada Corporation ("Franco-Nevada") (TSX: FNV) (NYSE: FNV) is aware that the Supreme Court of Panama announced this morning that Law 406, the law that approved the revised concession contract for the Cobre Panama mine, is unconstitutional. Franco-Nevada is in communication with its partner First Quantum Minerals Ltd. and will provide further updates as they are available.

Q: Since the mine in Panama is 20% of FNV revenues and the share price is down about 20% from the approximate $200 valuation expected with the current price of gold (based on past episodes), would you consider the total loss of this revenue stream to be "in the price", or is there further downside if the court ruling goes against the mine?

Q: After acquiring MMX last year what is the earnings growth outlook for TFPM? They seem to have a lot of non-producing streams/royalties, how many of these projects are expected to be producing assets in the next decade? Would 5i consider it a buy at current price levels or would you prefer a more senior royalty play like FNV?

Q: Could you tell from which metals (gold, silver, copper, others) these royalties’stocks or ETF are getting their revenues/profits. And in what proportion? If possible, from which countries?
I own OR (gold), SSL (gold only?). Also these stocks: MAG (silver only?), FVI (silver&gold?).
I hope the question is not too complicated. Thanks a lot.

Q: Hello, I think I made a mistake in buying WFG. It has not done well and is at the mercy of lumber prices and the government (I think?). I used to own SJ and it may have more control of it's destiny. Your thoughts please. Frankly I'm starting to think I don't need materials as there is too many, copper, lumber, steel, gold..... I also own AEM in the sector. How do I choose? I prefer a safer less cyclical stock if that's possible in this sector. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

Q: I have held the above stocks in my open account for several years. All stocks have shown a positive return except for BNS which is down approximately 20%. I have some cash to invest in the market and would like to purchase additional shares in some of these companies for a 3 to 5 year investment. Please rate the potential growth of these companies and rank the companies based upon the projected growth over the next 3 to 5 years. Thank you
