Q: Got my first 10 bagger today!! Thank you to everyone at 5i bringing us such good stock ideas and portfolio analysis. Thought Nvidia was going to be my 10 bagger but Galaxy Digital has been on a tear and takes the prize. Now that I have to trim them both(again) what stocks might be worth looking at in Communication services(US or Canadian) as I am presently low in that sector.

Q: SpaceX recently bought Echostar, along with 50 MHz of S-Band spectrum in the US. E. Musk is saying it could be the next wireless carrier. If that is so, what is the risk to companies like Telus, Bell, AT&T, etc. And what timeframe might be involved? Thanks very much.

Q: I hold these 3 stocks for income and have seen capital erosion in recent years with weakness in the telecom sector. In terms of industry concentration, how much overlap is there between the three (Telus has held up best), would you recommend letting one or two of them go, which one(s), and what would you recommend in the general sector as a replacement (US or Cdn)?

In particular, I am curious about BCE's prospects following the US acquisition after selling MLSE stake, dividend cut, debt, and scaling back of capex.

Q: Most of the telecom sector seems to be drowning in expenses and regulation. What is setting tmus apart and will this continue? Do you still see it as an attractive investment?

Q: Portfolio Analytics suggests a need to increase my allocation in utilities, real estate, communication services and consumer defensives. Could you give me your best 3 picks for each category, preferably on the TSX. If you feel the Canadian doesn't have very good choices, suggestions on the US market would be appreciated. Thanks.

Q: In process of rebalancing growth leaning portfolios, so for the Communications sector, what would be your top five or six "must own" holdings, any market in this sector. Currently I have a notional 6% allocation to sector and small positions in GOOG, SIXG (FIVG), NBIS, and Telus. At a 3.6% position I have room to grow and looking for ideas.

Q: To maintain comm sector exposure and to raise some USD thinking of selling my BCE holding in my USD cash account to buy one of the other two. Which one would be your choice today?

Q: Good morning, In the communications sector my only current holding is GOOG, which is a half position. I previously held BCE and T but sold them in recent months. Would you be comfortable topping up GOOG to a full (5%) position for growth over the next 3-5 years? Are there other companies in the communications sector you would recommend, US or Canada? Thanks!

Q: telecoms have had a rough year and have not reacted positively to the lowering of interest rates with the heavy debt levels they have I would have expected a positive reaction by now. That being said if you had to choose between Rogers, Telus or BCE what one would you choose and why ?

Q: Can you please give your opinion on which of these two companies will be most negatively affected going forward by:

- disruption

- competition

Which has the best outlook for its:

- balance sheet

- business growth

- dividend growth

Ultimately if you had to sell one or choose only one for a long term investment, which would it be?

Q: I bought my first 100 shares of BCE on Oct 22, 2014 at $47.79. Ten (10!) years later it is $38.94/share. I estimate that over those 10 years I have received $32.34 in dividends - so that helps. But holding a stock whose share price is down 20% after 10 years is not something to be proud of.

I am torn with what to do with my BCE shares. Sell all, sell half, buy more? I am trying to maintain a diversified portfolio by having exposure to the Telecom Sector, and I am not interested in replacing BCE with Telus, Rogers, etc. I already own Telus, and am down on that as well.

Telecom stocks make up about 7% of my portfolio today (my target was 8%), so if I sold BCE my % in Telecom stocks would decrease further.

If I sold any or all of my BCE, the first choice would be to replace it with something in the Telecom sector from the US (not Canada!) to keep it from falling too far away from my target of 8%. What US telecom stocks would you suggest that are performing better than BCE, T? The Telecom sector has NOT been the place to be this year, and the future does not look any better, so it is hard to maintain my sector diversification target.

For a moderate growth investor with a medium risk tolerance, what % of the portfolio would you suggest be in Telecom stocks? Is an 8% target too high?

Q: Based on 5i member questions/responses, I moved some Comms sector ownership into TMUS in May this year. It has steadily marched ahead, and has achieved two years of appreciation (>30%) in 5 months. RSI is high. Analyst's Target Prices are being hit.
I don't see any metrics that say it is much better, growing company.... so I am planning to lock in profits. Is there any metric that you see, that would say it is Buy right now?

Q: I need to increas,e my exposure to communication services by 6%. I already own GOOG. What are you suggestions and how strongly do you feel about them?

Also same question for Consumer Defensive holdings.

Q: Hi,
Comparing Telus, BCE and Rogers to AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile over the last year, the US companies seem to be outperforming (granted this is a short timeframe and others in the US top five: Comcast and Charter Communications aren't doing well either).

I was wondering if you have any thoughts about why the top three in the US are doing so much better lately than the top three in Canada. (Take credits as needed please.)

Piggy backing off one of my last questions on building a solid portfolio from scratch through diversification et al(THANK YOU!). Knowing you can’t get personal; looking for some mid to long term hold recommendations (either US or CA) in the following sectors with growth upside in mind as I have significant cash (250K+) sitting in my RRSP doing nothing. I am currently quite top heavy in Tech – and own the above in registered and non-registered accounts.

If you have several recos for a sector, can you please rank in order of preference. Additionally, if there is a sector that can be put to the side with the idea of prioritizing others, I would be keen to know. Also open to add ETF's to represent a sector. I have owned Verizon for some time. Although the dividend has been solid and I am up over purchase I'm wondering if you think there might be another better alternative at this time? My Cdn. content is at suggested levels so maybe a US or International option.? Whatever you think.
