Q: Hi! I would like to build a portfolio of 20 stocks that include both Canadian and US holdings that contain a mix of growth and defensive names with a stronger weighting to growth(say 70%/30% growth to safety). What names would yo allocate to create the portfolio. Thanks very much.

Q: I am trying to identify one and only one Telecom co. to invest across the US or Canada. According to Morningstar data, Verizon has the best ROE, ROIC and interest coverage metrics (and the lowest P/E apart from AT&T). Would you consider VZ the best overall for a long term investment? Thank you for your excellent service as usual.

Q: Would like your opinion om this fund for my US account, its performance is excellent five star morningstar rating. MER at 2% is high. Is there a similar ETF with similar performance? Or should I just be contented paying this fee considering its return? Do you see this sector continuing to outperform?

Q: I am underweight in US in my portfolio - for example in my communication sector AT+T represents only 2% -of a 17% weighting. Today (rightly or wrongly), I used the large uptick in the share price of CAE to sell my position that's held in my TFSA. (I sold with a gain of 4%, not counting the previous dividends.) I feel that the "airline" sector will still be under pressure after the present euphoria settles down, but who knows?

Having said that, please suggest two or three stocks or ETFs from each of the following sectors that could be considered somewhat defensive as well as being suitable for a TFSA. Portfolio Analytics indicates that I'm underweight in:
Basic Materials
Communication Services
Consumer Defensive
Energy
Financial Services
Healthcare
Industrials

Q: I have some extra room in my existing telecom allocation and am looking at adding TMUS and dropping SJR.B. Or should I just add further to VZ or FIVG to continuing increasing my US exposure and currency diversification? I am retired but do not depend on the income from this portfolio which is intended to be widely diversified and focused on dividend growing solid companies.

Q: The purchase of Sprint by T-Mobile was approved. The stock is at a new high on the news. Would this be a good time to buy? Can you please advise if analysts’ target revisions support the current price, are earnings expected to accelerate or have there been earnings suprises recently? Grateful if you would also advise on free cashflow, debt, and whether it is expecting a lot of growth from 5G. Thanks again for your valued views and insights.

Q: T-mobile is acquiring sprint. When is the acquisition date to be official. I believe both parties are agreed at price for sprints shares @ 6.35 US$ Can you confirm this price.
