Q: Hi

Sold both BCE and T prior to them dropping.

I am now under weight in communications by 3.79%.

Do I buy them back or would I be better off with VOX as my US holdings are doing better than my Canadian holdings over all.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

We need to increase our Telecom exposure in our non-registered account. Is Telus investable today for a long-term hold, or should we wait for a pullback? Alternatively, since we also need to increase our US exposure, would you be OK with VOX (or similar ETF) instead of T, or would tax consequences make VOX or another US-based ETF a poor choice in an unregistered account? Q: I hold a 5.9% position in ZWU in a registered account. I have surplus US cash in a non-registered account to put to work and was thinking of XLU which yields approx 3.4%. I realize this distribution will be treated as income by CRA [I am retired - low tax bracket] but it seems better than letting the funds just sit. Q: Is there ETF covering communication sector which trade in Canadian currency and on TSX which you would recommend?
Buying US ETF after converting Canadian to US dollars would give the purchase ~ 30 % premium which would be not cost effective

Q: Hi, 5i!
We have 10% of our portfolio in CPD... What do you think of selling half of this position, 5% of the portfolio, and replacing it with ENB (Enbridge), say, and/or another "hard to ignore" etf (recently Ryan, in an Etf & Mutual Fund article, identified 3 "hard to ignore"opportunities: CPD, VOX and ZUT)? Please note: we hold the Balanced Equity portfolio, so already have 2% of the Canadian part of our portfolio in ENB.

Q: Hi 5i: Two questions - please deduct points as appropriate.
(1) I'm looking for a good telecom stock to complete a sector allocation. I hold BCE and Telus in another portfolio, so am considering Rogers. Can you suggest any others, preferably US, or perhaps a US Telco oriented ETF?
(2) As above, for the utility sector of the portfolio; a US utility, or a US utility ETF.
