Q: I am presently over invested inthe Technology Sector in the following,
IYW has 90% in Tech - own 150 shares
QQQ has 52% in Tech - own 25 shares
ZSP has 32% in Tech - own 480 shares
XWD has 26% in Tech - own 300 shares
VXC has 26% in Tech - own 200 shares
What is the best way to sell (all or part of) the above to reduce this category to 7% as suggested by your Potfolio Tracker?
Thanks for your great service.

Q: I am currently conducting research on Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and I am particularly interested in those that include Google (Alphabet Inc.), Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon.

Based on my initial research, I have identified the following ETFs:

1. **Vanguard Mega Cap Growth (MGK)**
2. **iShares Edge MSCI USA Momentum Factor (MTUM)**
3. **BetaShares NASDAQ 100 ETF**
4. **S&P North American Technology Sector Index Fund (IGM)**, **Technology Select Sector SPDR**, **PowerShares QQQ**, and **iShares Dow Jones US Technology (IYW)**
5. **Evolve FANGMA Index ETF, TECH ETF**

I would appreciate if you could provide me with more detailed information if you prefer these ETFs which one 5i would recommend, or for that matter an alternative suggestion if you have another choice.
Thanks in advance
Rick

Q: Am looking at adding some QQQ (or similar) in my TFSA but am wondering if now is the best time. Also, I am not as familiar with Invesco and usually go with iShares. They have XQQ but it is in Canadian dollars and hedged. Would IYW be similar to QQQ? Are you quite comfortable with QQQ? Would you be able to suggest an entry price for whichever one you recommend? Thank you.

Q: Hi

We still have 500 shares of GSY in our RRSP accounts

Thinking of selling and buying BAC. Both are beaten up. However I am thinking BAC
has a better chance of recovering in a shorter time frame with less government interference.

Your comments or other suggestions in the US are most welcome.

We already have CROX, BRK.B, CELH, PERI, NIO, INMD, LNTH, IFRA,XYLD, IYW

Thank you

Mike

Q: Hi

Hoping to reduce the number of etfs in our RRSP accounts.

Is there a need to have both EQL and EQRR?
Is there a need to have both IYW and METV?
Is there a need to have ZDI and XEH?

Thank you and any other suggestions are most well.

Thank you

Mike

Q: Good Morning. In your response to Mike this morning you stated: "NVEI is slightly cheaper than a large-cap tech name such as GOOG (one of IYW's top holdings), but NVEI has a much stronger growth profile, but at the cost of longevity uncertainty." Did you mean that NVEI has a much stronger growth profile than GOOG or IYW ?
Thank you,
Dennis

Thinking of future 5 years.

Sell NVEI, MU and TSU and buy IYW.

Q: Hello 5i Team,

A similar question has likely been asked before.

For tax-loss selling purposes in a non-registered account, are QQQ and any other ETF that tracks the NASDAQ 100 index (eg. QQQM) considered different ETFs?

Thanks!

Q: Do Canadian ETFs that track US tech firms underperform? I was looking at these and a few others on the G&W and the Canadian ETFs with the exception of HTA and HTA.B (up 35%ytd) seem to have significantly lower returns. And I think HTA uses covered calls.

XLK is up 32% ytd, IYW 35%, IGN 31%. The most popular Canadian ETFS seem to be ZQQ(ZQN) 26%, XQQ and HQQ 26% and TEC 25%. Some of this is due to currency moves, but the hedging costs of the hedged ETFs surely aren't that large. Is it better to just buy XLK or are HTA/HTA.B a better alternative?

Q: Thank you for the reply to my recent question. Unfortunately the question pertained to the 5i balanced etf portfolio not the balanced equity portfolio. May I please have to top five etf positions to add new money at this time.

Q: Hi 5i, Of these ETFs will you please help me pick 3 you think had a better outlook, for a 3 years hold, I would think, now that the vaccine is ready, cloud etfs would slow down
Thanks

Q: I work in tech and for that reason I had told myself no need to add further exposure to tech by holding tech stocks. Now I kind of regret that strategy. I wonder what percentage of exposure to tech In my portfolio is sensible? Is it too late to enter? Do you think tech stocks are in a bubble? Can you suggest some names (ETFs/stocks) in canada and US that would be good choices if we decided to add some exposure to tech?

Q: I have just $10,000 U.S. to purchase something with. I heard Brookshire Hathaway is sitting on a whack of money and that the valuation was pretty good. This will be my only US holding currently and wondered if an ETF would be better? Not worried about risk and could get 100 Roku, if you think that might be rewarding? Thank you so much for making the stock market fun and interesting for an amateur.

Q: In your portfolio analytics, you used to have A list of suggested etfs for each sector. I cannot find this list anymore. Has it been removed? Could you please provide a list of recommended etfs for each sector. Thank you
