Q: Can you share your top picks for Canadian and US ETF's that would cover the relevant sectors (e.g. tech, industrials etc.)? Please take as many credits to answer this as required.

Q: Hi

Sold both BCE and T prior to them dropping.

I am now under weight in communications by 3.79%.

Do I buy them back or would I be better off with VOX as my US holdings are doing better than my Canadian holdings over all.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

We need to increase our Telecom exposure in our non-registered account. Is Telus investable today for a long-term hold, or should we wait for a pullback? Alternatively, since we also need to increase our US exposure, would you be OK with VOX (or similar ETF) instead of T, or would tax consequences make VOX or another US-based ETF a poor choice in an unregistered account? Q: I am underweight in US in my portfolio - for example in my communication sector AT+T represents only 2% -of a 17% weighting. What are some US communication funds that have performed well and appear to continue to do so - please list in order on rating. What are your thoughts on AT+T? Thank you for your excellent service.

Q: I hold a 5.9% position in ZWU in a registered account. I have surplus US cash in a non-registered account to put to work and was thinking of XLU which yields approx 3.4%. I realize this distribution will be treated as income by CRA [I am retired - low tax bracket] but it seems better than letting the funds just sit. If you could offer other suggestions I'd appreciate them. Thanks.....

Q: I just tried Portfolio Analytics and have concluded my portfolio needs some work. I need to increase US and international exposure and I need more weighting in Communication Services, Consumer Defense, Healthcare and Technology. Q: Hi 5i: Am considering my options for ETF's with GOOG & FB exposure. Have come across XLC, VOX and FCOM in this Communications sector space. Also saw PNQI ... Invesco NASDAQ Internet ETF , more international stocks. (which is not in your database). Could you advise on which of these your would favour for a medium term hold ? Thanks for all your great work.

Q: I have $9500 to invest in Technology or Communications ETF.
I have been following IYW & RYT in Tech & VOX in communications as per your PA list, but all are presently at their high so is it okay to buy now or wait till there is a correction and which sector &/or ETF would be best to consider for a RRIF?

Q: Is there ETF covering communication sector which trade in Canadian currency and on TSX which you would recommend?
Buying US ETF after converting Canadian to US dollars would give the purchase ~ 30 % premium which would be not cost effective

Q: Hi, 5i!
We have 10% of our portfolio in CPD... What do you think of selling half of this position, 5% of the portfolio, and replacing it with ENB (Enbridge), say, and/or another "hard to ignore" etf (recently Ryan, in an Etf & Mutual Fund article, identified 3 "hard to ignore"opportunities: CPD, VOX and ZUT)? Please note: we hold the Balanced Equity portfolio, so already have 2% of the Canadian part of our portfolio in ENB.

Q: Hi 5i: Two questions - please deduct points as appropriate.
(1) I'm looking for a good telecom stock to complete a sector allocation. I hold BCE and Telus in another portfolio, so am considering Rogers. Can you suggest any others, preferably US, or perhaps a US Telco oriented ETF?
(2) As above, for the utility sector of the portfolio; a US utility, or a US utility ETF.
