Q: Are all of these companies buyable in your opinion? And how would you rank them if they were bought today while keeping in mind dividends, safety, growth there are a few sectors here so that aside. I do think some of these companies are being forgot about with all the focus on tech.

Q: Hi,
Comparing Telus, BCE and Rogers to AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile over the last year, the US companies seem to be outperforming (granted this is a short timeframe and others in the US top five: Comcast and Charter Communications aren't doing well either).

I was wondering if you have any thoughts about why the top three in the US are doing so much better lately than the top three in Canada. (Take credits as needed please.)

Q: While Disney is a great company is it a great stock? I am down considerably on the stock as video streaming... have not met my expectations. Do you have any alternatives in this sector that would upgrade my portfolio or would you stay with Disney?

Q: You last looked at this in 2022 and didn't sound very good. But the stock stopped going down in October and has been driving higher since then, especially over the last few months. Has something changed with Comcast's fortunes?

Today, mid-day, October 13, 2022, CMCSA seems to have popped +5%.
This stock seems to have been on a steady decline for at least 1 year. Do you have any ideas what may have cause it to jump suddenly today?
Can you please also provide your thoughts on why it has been out of favor for at least a year and whether you like it or not.

Q: I have 5 companies that I have been watching and researching for awhile. I would like to narrow it down to 2. Could you give me an opinion on each and whether they can keep up the positive movement in the future? What does their their debt and future growth look like? Could you please rank them with the best first.

Q: I seek your comments (substance only please) on VIAC and CMCSA. If I am incorrect on the following conclusions I made on VIAC, please yell at me:
- Debt is high and is not well covered
- YET the dividend looks supportable given cash flow
- Shares trade well below fundamental value (traditional definitions of value) by some 30% to 40%
- Business model is not the strongest but company has plans to replace cord-cutters with streaming services
- Future growth seems limited.... only 6% growth is expected by analysts (but earnings grew by 101% this past years)

Is VIAC a value trap? All I wanted for Christmas was a Bloomberg terminal. I didn’t get one. Still , when researching a stock I give much weight to BUSINESS model and risks thereto, AND to metrics like PEG, FCF , ROCI (not to book value which is meaningless except in certain sectors).

If not VIAC , based on the metrics I pay more attention to (above) , do you believe CMCSA is a better buy? I bought a half position in CMCSA after I read through the earnings release . CMCSA reported January 23 and fell sharply after the earnings release. CMCSA fell even more (more than S&P) the day after Friday January 24. I see that CMCSA is one of the top 30 holdings of hedge funds ---for what that is worth. Notwithstanding the negative momentum , is CMCSA a company one would be reasonably fine to add to instead of buying VIAC?

Q: Cons Disc [CD] portfolio target is 9%; current holdings 1.5% ea AMZN, SHOP [technically IT, but now more similar to AMZN? if not, then only 3% allocated], and CMCSA. 5+ yrs growth goal. To add and/ or new buys?
1. e-commerce: AMZN, SHOP, others?
2. retail watch list [WList]: advise re LULU, NKE, SBUX, others?
3. TV/ connected WList: DIS, ROKU & TLRA [both IT, but ultimately tied to Consumer spending]
4. Or, XLY and/ or TDB 424 Fund [Entertainment & Communication holds some Cons Disc, but not 100%] or other.
This is a mix but would appreciate your advice with sector allocation.

Regarding Fairfax India Holdings (FFXDF), is this a five year hold, or is it money down the drain? Your recent answer to someone asking about Cognex (CGNX) was that it was out of favour. Can I have more details? Do you think this is the time to be buying gold due to the US's huge debt, and the increasing trade tension between the US and China? Thank you for your input.

I've owned BCE (-6%) and T (+9%) for ~ 18 months -not including dividends. I'm patient, but tired of BCE losing money, plodding along. Comparing CMCSA (Comcast) (4.8), BCE (3.3), T (3.8), RCI.B (4.0) Morningstar Broker Analyst Recommendation ratings, there's a clear winner: CMCSA (USA) (up +377% over last 10 years). When I plot these 4 Financial stocks over 10-years, the others are hardly visible on the graph.

Why not move my $35K (RRSP) from BCE to CMCSA, leaving T? Risk?

Q: Comcast (CMCSA) is trying to buy Time Warner and I think since the shares have dropped in price since the buyout deal was announced that now would be a good time to buy the shares. What do you think about Comcast and do you think now is a good time to buy shares in CMCSA?
