Q: Now that Paramount has won the bid to buy WBD at 31$ per share, and stock price is still 28, do you see an almost guaranteed 10% gain as long as you're willing to hold the stock for a few months or a year?
It almost seems like a lot of free money. Any explanation why the current price is not closer to 31?
Do you recommend buying at $28?

Q: I am starting to read more about the risks for Netflix with respect to their bid for WB. Particularly in light of the improved offer from Paramount this week, and comments from the Trump Administration that suggests they likely will be involved in some way in approving a deal at some point, however that ends up looking.

My question is this - in the event that Netflix loses out (my view is that it is 60-40 they do lose out, either on price or regulatory/DOJ hurdles down the road), do you think there is upside in their stock price near-term? And I have also been reading that if Netflix does not get WB, they may take a run at Disney.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks as always.

Q: Hi 5i Research Team

Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday.

Quick question on Netflix (NFLX). Shares are around ~$90 and I’m debating whether it makes sense to start a position ahead of the next earnings release.

What are the key bull and bear drivers you’d be watching?

Is there anything in expectations/valuation right now that makes the risk/reward especially asymmetric one way or the other?

If you were interested, would you treat it as a starter position vs. a larger bet, and why?

Appreciate any perspective you can share.

Best,

Q: While Disney is a great company is it a great stock? I am down considerably on the stock as video streaming... have not met my expectations. Do you have any alternatives in this sector that would upgrade my portfolio or would you stay with Disney?
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: What is your opinion on this company and its future? Time to take my lumps and move on or is there a merger or anything else in the pipeline...potentially?

Q: What is your opinion on this company? Are they in the midst of a turnaround? I read somewhere that the CEO has stock options that won't vest until the stock reaches 36 per share. Does this sound like motivation to get the house in order?

Thanks

Q: Hello Peter,

Your thought on adding one of the above names to my portfolio. I hold a bit of WBD from the AT&T spin-off and is ready to trade it with another stronger performer. Thank you!

Q: I have these three stocks in my margin account currently at a loss. When does it make sense to realize the loss for tax loss selling and buy another proxy. I know most of tax loss selling usually happens later in the year, but does it ever make sense to do it earlier in the year if the stock is down? What would be good proxies for EGLX, DIS and APPS? Thanks!

Q: Hoping that your easter was/is enjoyable

I have received shares in the subject stocks and want to decide to add to them creating a partial position going forward. My two questions(oe each) is do I sell these stocks outright at my zero cost or do I consider adding into the position. They both are trading at attractive levels, have analysts' projected earnings increase but do not pay a dividend. Your wise thoughts and any recommendations please
Peter
