Q: Thanks to rising oil prices, I have cashed out of an oil stock at the original price paid 5 years ago. I feel lucky to have done so as this is a sector I wish to avoid. This makes my TFSA ( small part of total portfolios and is my fun money ) 50 % cash.
Knowing that momentum is important to you, what are your thoughts on the momentum of the S&P 500 ? The growthy small caps seem to be out of favour at the moment. Do I wait until market sentiment has changed back or look at other larger growth stocks ? Your 3 suggestions for a risk oriented TFSA is appreciated. Derek

Q: Hi Team,
I am holding the following stocks at a loss. BABA (-52%), MED (-30%), TT(-4%),EGLX (-33%), MG (-8%), SWKS (-20%), U (-1%), PINS (-33%).

My question is, should I continue to hold the line with all of these? Or are there any that stand out to you as being better off to sell and swap out with a different holding of which you suggest? Or any of these I should be selling, and adding to another one of these? I thought perhaps after yesterdays sell off there might be some moves I should be making. (Although the market is already recovering nicely today on alot of these names). Suggestions here would be appreciated. Thanks!

Q: What would be your ranking of the above names today for a growth portfolio? Are there any you wouldn't currently view as a buy?

Q: My recent question about defensive growth stocks - let me rephrase it as I was after growth in defensive sectors . In defensive sectors I would appreciate your advice on top 3 growth stocks within each sector for 5-10 year hold. For example, in staples sector, could you advise top 3: COST, ATD, MED, CELH, PEP, MDLZ, BYD, DRVN, MNRO, or others. For Utilities sector, please advise top 3: for example, BEP, BIP, RUN, PBW, ENB, or others. For REITs and Telecoms, same. Please deduct requisite points.
Thank you..

Q: Any recommendations for US or international (listed on US stock exchange) stocks for RRSP and TFSA accounts to help overall diversification with non-registered accounts that are overweight Canada geographically and within that financial, energy, and utilities overweight. Thanks.

Q: Hi,
In respect to the question from Brad in regards to small caps, you responded as:

"We have seen some studies showing the group is cheap (relatively) than it has been in 10 years. The 4Q is often good for the sector.

Could you name 3 to 5 small cap stocks that you would recommend?

Q: Hi team,
Just looking for any new thoughts on Med? Any idea why itís been weak lately? I donít understand why this one is being sold off so aggressively after beating estimates last quarter, and you would think the ďhealthy living ď aspect of the company would be a strong trend right now ? I am -21% on it after today . Is it time to sell or hold? If sell , is there anything in particular you would deem a much better buy right now with the funds ? I hold this in a US cash account so if I was replacing it with something I would prefer it to be US listed . I am typically a long term holder , unless the story changes or thereís a much better opportunity that comes along .

Q: Good morning Ryan, Peter, and 5i Team,

Given the recent earnings miss and resulting downward momentum of WW shares, are you still confident that the thesis for investing in Medifast holds water? If not, might you suggest which one of your favourite US growth stocks (any sector) that you might currently prefer over Medifast? Thanks for your great service!

Q: Hello team ,
I was looking for your thoughts on some of my recent worst performers and what I should do with them . Baba (held in a US cash account ) is down 45% after the Chinese government crackdown . Med (down 21% in US cash account ) after only owning it for a short time . And Mgni is selling off daily for some reason now , even after the strong quarterly results .(still up 20% in rsp) . For each of these how do you recommend them Öbuy more , hold , sell? If any are sells what would be your recommendation on a replacement ; preferably one with high potential in getting my money back.

Q: When looking at growth vs value or tech vs more cyclical stocks, we have seen stocks like GH go from $181 to 99, Coupa from $377 to 208 or Acuity Ads go from $26 to $8 while the DOW hits all time highs. My question is what do you expect would happen to this type of small, growth company when a correction comes? Have they been punished enough that they are buffered or even so an inflow of capital in a rotation or would they likely be punished even more severely due to (still) high valuations? As a part 2 to this question, what would be your five favourite growth stocks that have been beaten up and would you start positions in them today or wait for further declines?

Q: I would like to double my Health sector % as recommended by Portfolio Analytics. I could also increase US portion of my portfolio but either Can or US is fine.
Current holdings and percentage of total portfolio are:
GUD (.75%), WELL (2.85%), ABBV (.81%)
Could increase existing holdings but have also been looking at US stocks CI and MED.
Your thoughts on approach and recommendations, including additions/deletions/other equities I have not mentioned would be appreciated. Dividend is not essential.
As always, many thanks.

Q: Hi,

Iím looking to either add to or start a new position in my TFSA, 3-5 year timeline (or longer), with a high risk tolerance. Can you suggest a few companies (no preference Can/US). I currently already have small positions of both Topicus and Eglx inside my TFSA, so Iím also considering just adding the new funds to either of these. Thanks for the great service you provide!
