Q: Being an 80myear old income dividend invester and needing to take a position having no material sector amounts, I am looking at CHE.UN and NTR. Please suggest an opinion on which to choose or should I just take a position in both? Alternate suggestions would also be considered in the material sector.
Thank you
Stanley

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor with a balanced portfolio (in my opinion anyway). I have a small Materials sector weight of approximately 5%....half of which is in Nutrien and the balance is held within CDZ, ZLB, ZWC and RBF646. The non-NTR materials holdings are heavier in the gold, etc. stocks.

I am interested in, if possible, a one-stop-shop ETF that focuses on materials like gold, silver, copper, rare-earths....those that have, obviously, already had a good run but are believed to have more runway to go. I have looked through both the BMO and iShares ETFs and have not found anything suitable.

Do you have any ideas for a few ETFs that I could further research?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated....Steve

Q: I’m doing a fairly major portfolio clean-up and account optimization exercise.
Specifically, I’m removing dividend-oriented and income-generating stocks from my TFSA and RRSP that are better suited to a non-registered account, and reallocating TFSA/RRSP capital to assets that benefit most from tax sheltering.

At a broad level, I’d appreciate your perspective on:

• Which CAD and USD names are best suited to an RRSP (e.g., U.S. dividend payers, global compounders, cyclicals, etc.)
• Which CAD and USD names are best suited to a TFSA (long-term growth, compounding, low income leakage)

I’m less interested in yield optimization and more focused on long-term after-tax efficiency and proper account placement.

If helpful, feel free to answer at a category level (e.g., “U.S. dividend aristocrats,” “Canadian compounders,” etc.) or with specific examples you think are particularly well-suited.

Thanks — looking forward to your thoughts.

Q: These stocks are held in my wife's RRIF - just turned 71 - start withdrawing 2026. QSR, NTR ,GSY & GRT.UN small positions. GSY added this year. Thinking of selling GRT.UN - stock has not done much & very small dividend increaser, QSR (500 shs) small position - not big dividend grower - thinking of selling, NTR held fora while - up a fair bit 44%, 500 shs - sell? Comments if you agree with my analysis and if so, what should buy or add to this account?

Q: Retired, long term holder of Nutrien in both TFSA and RRIF accounts. All in, it has been a pretty good year for NTR....up roughly 25-30%.

Your thoughts on NTR's prospects over the next year or so, in general? Please include your thoughts on the Jansen mine coming on line...and your thoughts on the latest USA tariff threats?

As NTR is fairly cyclical, my plan was to consider trimming or sell all of NTR when it reached into the $90-100 range.

Thanks for your insight....Steve

Q: In my TFSA the following companies are all in the red: ATS, DRX, KSI, LUCA, NTR, PSI, PXT. Can you suggest which ones are likely to recover in the next year or two, and which ones I could sell as laggards and reinvest the money in something "growtier". Thank you.

Q: Good afternoon Troops. 65y/o retiree looking to reduce my holdings and consolidate into an easier to manage portfolio. I have chosen six ETFs to give me some international and US exposure, some using covered calls for income. For the Canadian side of my portfolio I have chosen these ten stocks that would be my core holdings going forward. Can you please comment on this strategy and if these stocks are suitable for my situation. Cheers.

Q: Hi, I own the companies mentioned above. Companies on unregistered account have been beaten down, what order would you sell them in or should some be held?

Thank you

Q: I want to raise a bit of cash for a balloon payment on my mortgage. I can sell BCE at a loss, which would offset good gains earlier this year. Alternately I could sell NTR for a slight profit. I also own a bit of Telus (also at a slight loss) but no other Ag stocks.

Which would you be inclined to sell?

Q: Since 2021 COW has moved sideways. Do you see any growth in the next 5 years ? What purpose would it perform in a portfolio (growth, income, defence, etc.). As an alternative, can you recommend a few leading companies in the agricultural space at a reasonable entry point, their leadership role and their purpose in a portfolio for the next 5 years.

Q: Regarding your recent portfolio changes:

- what is the best metric for determining whether or not Tantalus Systems is good value at current levels ?

- I was surprised by the AI disruption note in your commentary for CGI. I thought they were to benefit from AI. Maybe I misunderstood (?)

- By trimming NTR and adding L in the balanced portfolio, are you suggesting there is more upside with L ?

Q: Hi Peter and 5i Team,

I need to raise some cash and plan to sell/reduce in a non-registered account to accomplish this. Of the stocks and ETFs addressed in this question, please rank them in the order that YOU would sell/reduce, starting with the ones to sell/reduce first. If any holdings are an outright sell, please indicate. For example, we've held BYD for a long time and have a decent gain, but it's short-term performance has faltered somewhat.

As always, thanks for your insight.
