Q: Hi Team
I am selling my full holdings in both Gil and NFI to offset the gain with Boyd from January, would you suggest repurchasing both in 30 days or would the funds be better deployed elsewhere at this time, if so could you suggest 2 names, or use the funds to top up existing holdings in the Balanced Equity Portfolio.
Thanks for the great service.

Q: Hello 5i Team,
Thank you for all your guidance throughout this type of market. I'm sure all the Canadians are greatly appreciating your impeccable work for us DIY investors.

If you have ~$20k of cash today and your goal is to appreciate this into a much larger amount not too long after coming out of the other side of this market (i.e. after a recession), which 10-15 Canadian equities would you go after with a good sector diversification?

Since I am younger and my nest egg is still small, I'm not too concerned or rely on dividends. I'd much rather have stocks whose valuations may appreciate greatly rather than going for the slow and steady dividend aristocrats and blue-chips.

I have been eyeing the large discounts on Canadian equities such as the following: AC, CAE, SLF, GSY, LSPD, PLC, GIL.

Q: Hi 5i Research Team:

I have traded Forex before and am new to stock trading. 90% of my RRSP, RESP and TFSA is in cash and I'd like to avail the current market conditions by "gradually" buying the dips.. and holding it over the long term, 5 to 10 years. I understand that no one can time the market or its bottom.

After exploring the reports and questions on your site, I have identified the enclosed 29 stocks based on following criteria:
- Current Retracements of > 75% over 52 week high & low
- Dividend Yield > 5% (in some cases, like WEED, which is a bit risky, I understand there's no dividend in the near term.. and I am simply going for the upside swing over the next 2 years... same for CRON and Air Canada)

Considering my 90% cash position and strategy to partially buy in on dips over the next few weeks, can you please advise if my stock selection is sound. In addition to my stock picks, please advise anything else that I should keep in mind.

Thanks for everything you do. Much appreciate.

Q: Hi, 5i Team
In the market updates email that you sent on Mar/01, you mentioned the following companies deserved a closer look:

Air Canada (AC), Lightspeed (LSPD), BRP Inc. (DOO),Maple Leaf Foods (MFI),Dollarama (DOL),Aritzia (ATZ),Gildan Activewear (GIL),
Alimentation Couche-Tard (ATD.b), Canada goose (GOOS), Descartes Systems. Group (DSG), WSP Global (WSP),

In the "5i special Opportunities Report" within the Special Market Volatility Report email sent on Mar/09, you recommended 10 stocks that were very attractive. Only WSP and DSG were also included. What do you think of the others? Is it a good time to buy them around March?
Are they also solid names worth owning especially now after some huge corrections?

Thank a lot!

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan,
I am looking to take advantage from the current market dip and add the the above securities and ETF to my RRSP Portfolio. My time frame is 5 to 10 years. with adding the above I will be having all the 5i balanced portfolio stocks included. In addition I am adding some ETF and other stock that I think it can help my portfolio. Appreciate you advise of which stock look good at this time to buy (please rank). Is there any of the list I should avoid. Do you have other suggestions for good quality stocks and ETF (in the US and Canada) that have a good growth potential.
Thanks,
YR

Q: I am interested in purchasing some stocks for my non registered US account with the primary purpose is to provide income. What would be your top 3 Canadian companies that pay their dividends in US funds and what 3 US companies would you recommend?

Q: Hi, Can you name a few companies say 3 Us and 3 canadian companies who have been prolific in creating value for their shareholders either by buying back shares/not increasing their share count while growing consistently. A small dividend if applicable but leaning more towards growth in earnings. Preferably with some sort of monopoly or advantage in their field. Thank you.

Q: Trying to decide what to do with the cash from selling TOY. Thoughts on moving this to a new position in GIL? I see they had a big drop in October. Any reasons to stay away? Or any other suggestions on what to do with this cash. This would be a new position in a TFSA.

Thanks

Q: I have owned Boyd for the past year in a non registered account and have realized capital gains due to the conversion this month. I also own GIL in the same account. Just wondering for tax loss selling if I should sell GIL now to offset the Boyd gain a bit. I intend to buy back GIL after the 30 days. Do you think I should wait a bit or is now a good time to do this?

Q: I'm an owner of the Balanced Equity portfolio. I had to turn over a lot of the portfolio in the second half of last year due to some transactions I was doing. I'm now back to having my cash and looking to rebuild the part of the BE portfolio I'm missing.

How do you see GIL for new purchases today? Any key BE names other than this one I should focus on now given market conditions today?
