Q: Is it a good time to start buying REITS or should I wait until 1/2 way through next year when we know more about this recession that everyone is predicting?

Can you recommend 1 or 2 CDN and 1 or 2 US for a long term hold?

Q: Hi,
I'm interested in these US REITs. Can you rank them best to worst for a longterm holder, and comment on the best account type to hold them in?
I know you've said that in general REITs are best held in a TFSA, but are there any exceptions to that guideline among them.

Q: Hi 5i, looking for help taming the RIETs part of my portfolio as i own all of the above. Can you help me with selling some REITs (anything I've doubled up on or is not the best choice). I am planning on redistributing the funds to the remaining REITs. As usual your help is appreciated, if you could rank them also that would be great.

Q: I have never owned a REIT but started looking at a couple. In doing so I realized that I really don’t know what to evaluate in a REIT (beyond type of asset - land, commercial, residential, specialty) and things I normally see as red flags may not be here. Can you tell me a few of the most important fundamentals to look at when comparing REITS (negatives to watch out for specifically, and positive indicators). For example my initial concerns were steady increases on common shares outstanding (seems acceptable and typical of all REITS) and what debt levels are acceptable. If you could tag your favourite REITS today I would appreciate. I have only looked at LAND and IIPR so far.

Q: Hello again and thanks for your insights on AGNC, I think I will set that one aside for now. Searching the Q&A I have assembled this list of 4 companies for diversified exposure to residential and industrial real estate in Canada and the US (a bit of global with Prologis is appealing). Q: In addition to my growth stocks (40% of my CDN portfolio), I have 'safe stocks' RY, T, ACQ, BIP.un in Canada and in US, I have AQN, AEP, NEE. (about 20% in US portfolio, so far). I notice that in the last year, these lo beta, ‘safe’ stocks have been performing as well as growth stocks. Because I think we’re in for more volatility, I’m interested in buying more lo-beta-with-some-growth stocks for the next few years. What do you think of these options complementing what I have? Can you pick two?
