Q: Hi there: I have been retired for 5 years, in my late 60's. In which order of the above will you buy, given that a few of them are in their all time high. Could u rank them from high (10) to Low (1), and what entry price make sense to you. From a dividend return point of view, and from a Growth point of view. Take as many credit as you see fit. Q: Do any of the utilities held in these ETF’s offer the same kind of energy power support for the mega computers running AI applications as something like VRT in the US?

If not are there any Canadian companies that do so and would be an attractive investment in this area?

I've been very careful in the last year with stock market at all time high and I've been building a relatively high position in utilities in my portfolio and I am clearly overweight in utilities. I know that timing the market perfectly is impossible but at what point in time would you suggest to start unloading utilities? Do you think that there is still some upside in these names due the Tariffs and the associated panic in the market? If you had 3 companies to sell now in my list which companies would you unload first. Thank you!

Q: It seems the mid-stream oil and gas companies are holding up fairly well in this world of uncertainty. I would like to take positions in all, or some of these companies.

Are there any of these that you would not invest in at this time? If so, why not?

It would also be helpful if you would rank order them for me in terms of reliability of dividends and value at this time.

Q: Hi Folks,
In my RRSP account - thinking of selling my 2% position in AQN. I am currently down 33%. I also have FTS and BIP.UN as my Utility holdings with a 11% weighing for these two.
With that money I would buy a 3% position in APPLE. I also have MSFT and CSU as my holdings in the Tech sector. I currently have a 10% weighing in the Tech sector. ( I also have a 4% position in GOOG not included in the Tech sector weighing)
I have a fairly diversified conservative portfolio.
May I have your opinion as to whether this would be a wise move to make at this time. I am looking at a 10 year time frame and looking to add some "zip" to my portfolio.

Q: These past years, watching energy / utilities has been strategically interesting these, noting that it was a short time ago that renewable utility stocks were shooting for the moon, and energy was so low that oil was selling at a negative to fulfill pipeline contracted deliveries. At its low I recall a reader asking “should I back up the truck” on Suncor. In short your response was no. Nobody likes oil, just look at the price.
Then it all switched. A number of unforeseeable crises such as Ukraine shifted everything.
What is the long term forecast for each? I note that the world is finally ramping scale for electric vehicles, and batteries, a lot faster than building power plants. My hypothesis is thus related. A demand surge for e-cars in years ahead will gradually spike power demand with no concurrent supply leading to average power rates jumping and done winners in utilities. If anything, natural disaster supply shortages in California, Texas and others have highlighted grid vulnerabilities reducing supply and creating spikes for winners.
On the fossil fuel side, I would therefore guess that demand will persist as North America does not support infrastructure to reduce or even maintain electricity costs at present levels.
Any thoughts welcome- this is no longer a new subject but should be among our most important as investors…I’m also looking out at the smoke everywhere and thinking this discussion isn’t going away.

I need to sell all the stocks in my non-registered account to access the cash in the next 2-5 years. I will be selling many of the stocks listed, in the next few weeks. Can you list them in SELL order with a few comments on the rationale.

Q: What percentage of a portfilio would you allocate to renewable enegy. I have organized possible holdings into 3 groupings: A. asset allocators, like BEP-un, CWEN; B. technology enhancers, like ARRY, SHLS, RUN, C. Electric utility deliverers: AES, FTS. I would ssk that you recommend a your preferred namres for each grouping. My questions are: 1. Is this a useful way to organize and, if so, what percentage would you allocate to each grouping? 2. Q: I presently have some U.S. cash available to invest. As a retired Canadian investor I already own CPX but would like to add Fortis to further stabilize dividend income. Fortis is listed on NYSE and TSE. Other than trading volume is there a disadvantage to buying in NY?

Q: My wife's Cash account. As funds become available, I plan to initiate a position in NRGI and top up 3 existing positions = BNS, FTS, NWC.

Due to the war, NRGI could be a good addition if the war carries on, or possibly negative if the war ends (I'd gladly lose some money if it helped end the war). NWC has had a good run lately, so my thought was to do it last if at all. I currently have a large paper loss on BNS and a large paper gain on FTS. With interest rates still probably rising, that might help BNS and hurt FTS, but the market might be looking past the remaining interest rate hikes.

My thoughts on the sequence of buying when funds are available are = NRGI, BNS, FTS, NWC.
