Q: I have $20000 to invest in an resp account.

Given the ongoing fall in tech stock prices, I would like invest $10,000 to buy tech stocks low and hopefully sell high in 3 years.

Can you provide 5 Canadian stocks and 5 US stocks.

I also want to invest the other $10,000 in less volatile. Companies with a total return of 15% or more. (e.g. Energy, banks, insurance, etc...)

I had asked a question a number of days ago about ABBV, and I had referenced a PE ratio of 32 . Your team said they did not know where I got my figure from (I actually got it from Morningstar), and you had indicated that the forward PE was much lower than that. I see that your own database shows that the PE is 32. I realize that this, perhaps, is a trailing figure, but maybe there is also something else I am missing.

Q: Please advise your top large cap stock pick for each sector [Canada or US], with a short blurb about why you like it.
Also, which sectors would you overweight and which ones underweight for 2022.

Q: I have some extra USD money from a small US pension that is used for going to Florida in the winters. Since we have not gone in the last two years, I would like to put some of it in our TFSA. My questions are, if I buy say TD on the NY stock exchange would the dividend in US dollars be subject to 15% withholding tax. Could you please give me several companies I could buy into if this is true. Could you also give me several US companies or ETF's that would give me a dividend and hopefully growth for a long term hold. Thank you for all the help I get for being a member. Gary

Q: I'm overweight utilities and underweight health. In a taxable account, I am contemplating selling AQN (up 30%) and purchasing ABBV. Given the tax implications, would you support this swap?

Q: ABBV has had a good run recently. So good that it is now trading at a PE of approx. 32 from what I see. I see revenue has been consistently climbing, and P/CF appears to be a bit lower than it's historical numbers. However, according to Morningstar it I see that it is trading at approx. 1.2 above fair value - historically high for ABBV.

What are your thoughts on this stock? Will the revenue drop a year or two once the Humira patent cliff is hit? I'm assuming this may all be priced in. Just wondering if in your opinion the valuation has become stretched, or can be justified.

(Also i2i fund 1.5%)
Are there any red flags here or changes that you would recommend for a growth/balance portfolio? The rest of my portfolio is a cross between your (5i's) balance and growth funds.

Given that they are evenly held, not well diversified and weighted to tech, Looking forward to 2022 do any of these cause any concern to you. NIO and UCTT have been underperforming the most. Would you trim or remove any of these?

Secondly, I am down 39% in WELL. Should I have any concerns picking up additional shares at this level?

Q: What a dilemma. Apple is the best performing stock in what is supposed to be a relatively safe and balanced RRSP portfolio. But it has grown to represent 20% of the portfolio. I feel I have to sell a good chunk of this high performance stock in order to correct the balance. Can you suggest what I could buy to replace the shares of Apple I sell?

Q: Hi Team,
With index's near record highs it is very frustrating to have my portfolio down 20% over the last quarter, and still dropping (holding mostly growthy tech). I have read recently that even though the index's are hitting records, nearly half the underlying stocks in the index's are down 20% or more from highs. My question is now..do I keep holding or make the switch to the interest rate increase "friendly" stocks. My initial thoughts are that since my holdings are already down 20-50% on some of these names and the stories in the companies have not changed (other than the short reports on LSPD and NVEI), is it better to simply hold at this point and wait for better days, or should I be selling into the weakness and re adjusting my portfolio? Or...should I buck the trend and add to these dips. Seems like many long term opportunites come from adding to beat down names in times such as this. I am overweight tech, mostly 5i tech favourites.

Also, taking everything into consideration; what are some of your top ideas for 2022 TFSA contributions as of today that you would be looking at, either US or Cnd. My timeframe is 10yrs plus until retirement. Thanks

We had abbv 5.5%, zuh 5% then added mrk 3.5% lately based on the Covid pill and positive 5i info only to see a 15% drop on news and selloff. Should we sell mrk with the loss or hold.
