Q: My wife has $75,000 to invest in her TFSA, in which she is also holding 100 shares of TD Bank along with 100 shares of TD in an RSP. She is retiring in a month has a defined pension plan, CPP, OAS. But she is still looking for dividend income either monthly or quarterly to supplement her income.
We are looking at going with "Beating the TSX Portfolio 2022" but also looking at ZWU and ZWC which look like they could bring in more income but higher fees. What are your thoughts? Thank you.
Brian

Q: I have a cash account set up that I draw from when needed. I am looking for dividends, safety and a bit of growth. I have all of the above in nearly all the same amounts but would like to add one more. Ignore diversity as I have all that covered by other accounts.

Q: hello,
What would be your pick of six or seven Canadian names for a concentrated portfolio for "safe" and reliable income. Open to income trusts as well. Is my list "ok". What would you change? Aiming for better than 5% yield. Thanks

Q: My wife and I are retired and rely on dividend income. In the event of a recession, including rising inflation and interest rates and a 20%+ decline in equity markets, how safe/sustainable does 5i view dividends from the named companies? With unrealized gains on all of these, are there any that 5i would suggest selling, accepting the taxable gain, and holding the cash for a rainy day? Thank you. Edward

Q: Good day 5i Team, What's up with OSFI? The Canadian banks have been quite conservative during the pandemic but OSFI won't release them to give investors the dividend increase? They were heralded as the world's safest banks during the Great Financial Crisis, but somehow they will be last to increase dividends this time?. Even the banks in the EU and UK are released from holding additional funds. Do you have any good conspiracy theories? Keep up the great work and appreciate all you do for the little guys.

Q: Hello Peter,
For additional monies for a balanced approach, i was thinking of putting new monies into Nuvei (instead of Shopify), and rest into one of the banks. I already have Topicus. Does this make sense and if so, which bank would be best at current valuation? Fobi AI has had good news releases, yet stock tumbles. Any comments.. Thanks very much.

Q: Hi Peter,
With reported earnings and the potential for dividend hikes later this year, what looks better to you now; Cdn Banks or Cdn Insurance Co's ?
Is there any noticable advantage or disadvantage to holding a covered call on a Company etc if/when they raise their dividend ?
Thank you.

Q: Greetings 5i,

The company's listed are TFSA holdings. The goal of the TFSA is moderately aggressive growth. Time frame is 4-8 years. Equities are purchased in equal weights and rebalanced based on weighting.

SLF and BNS are also held in other accounts, at an overall portfolio percent of ~5-6%. Which would you recommend adding to at this time? What do you consider the weakest from this list? Would you consider removing any from the TFSA holding only in either a non reg or reg account? If so, why? And which one, two or three additional growth oriented companies, either CAD or USD would you recommend.

Take as many credits as required.

Thank you for the excellent service.

Q: I hold the Canadian banks in my dividend portfolio and they have served me well over the years as a core hold.
Should I reconsider these holdings in light of new taxation rules being suggested?

Q: Hi Folks,
I currently own the following in my RRSP account (weightings in brackets ) - PG (4%), TD (13.5%), BNS (10%), MFC (3%), ABBV (6.5%), PFE (12%), BCE (14%), T (14.5%), AQN (6.5%), BIP.UN (6%), and ENB (6.5%).
I want to reduce my exposure to TD, BNS, BCE, T and PFE to bring them in line with the others - can you suggest some names that will complement the portfolio, keeping in mind I am looking for Income with some growth - long term hold.
Thanks

Thanks Larry

Q: Taking these 7 income oriented equities and looking to rank them for risk in a correction situation moving forward it seems that if we use the March 2020 correction as a guide FTS and BCE dropped the least (28%) followed by RY (33%) then TD,BNS, AQN (35-37%) with SLF trailing the pack at 46%. The reason behind any future correction could of course be different than a virus-induced shutdown of the economy. But still your ranking of safest to least safe is appreciated and if your answer would be different depending on the cause of the correction then your comment on that would be nice to have as well. Thank you for assisting me in trying to build the most secure portion of my income strategy. Any additional equities that fit in the lowest downside category that you might suggest would also be most welcome.

Q: What do you think of this twenty stock dividend portfolio for a taxable account? I am focusing on high quality and it yields about 3.8% . Any changes you would make?

Q: This is my margin portfolio, all position weightings are between 3%-5%.

The projected yield is 3.31% with a 3-5 year hold.

I realize 24 positions is a bit overkill but I can't seem to choose which to remove, which would you recommend?

What positions would you add to the portfolio?

Take as many credits as needed.

Thanks for the great service

Q: I get why rising rates would help good 'ol fashion bank stocks. While fintech names seem to be considered more growth oriented, wouldn't higher rates ultimately help those stocks as well?

I own the names above. Any issues with any of them?

Thanks

Q: I am trying to maximize income In my LIRA before I convert it to a LIF. I hold a good weighting of ZEB from several years back when I was a novice investor. Now I am looking to shed the MER by going with the individual financial stocks. Would you please rank the above financials and others you think are worthy for a hold and forget steady income stream?

Thank you
