Q: Good Morning,

As the market gets beaten down yields on some very good companies are becoming difficult to ignore.

With a recession in sight yields could possibly get even better.

I am retired and an income investor sitting on substantial cash.

What would be your preferred course of action at this time?

What companies would be most attractive to you?

Q: I am in my 80's and am changing my investment philosophy.
Can you suggest 6-8 stocks US or Can that would be in a solid l-o-n-g term growth and income portfolio. I would particularly like stocks that have recently been a little soft.

Q: Hello 5i,

I have a tax loss to harvest in a non-register account with JPM after ex-div; hard to believe considering rates are rising and JPM is what I thought was the blue chip of blue chips. Financials sure are not well liked in the current environment. What would be a good substitute to buy? WFC or BAC or another US bank you might recommend?

Q: I have a stake in one of these companies. Is it prudent to ad at this time and to what one and why. Also, I am starting to think that market timing is everything. You must time your investments and get out at times and maybe get back in at certain times. I think that not just buy and hold until you get Killed any more. Just saw in my news feed that RY missed expectations. Means another blood bath for the banks? Should one wait before backing up the truck and loading up? How long should one wait for the dust to settle? I know RY,TD &BNS are your favorite picks.

Q: Some time ago i asked a question regarding the merits of holding a handful of us stocks along with my US etf’s, in order to get a little extra boost. You were ok with the strategy but cautioned against the kind of stocks I held i.e. Google, nvidia, msft, Costco, abbivie. While they were good stocks you said that the problem is that they are well represented in the various etf’s and that if i wanted a “kicker” to provide boost that I should go smaller in size. I wonder if you could provide a handful of stocks that would fit that criterion and would be ones that one would want to own long term. If they were also good candidates for selling options on that would be an added bonus. Thanks for your expertise and advice.

Q: Thursday,Jpm and Ry shares declined the latter around 5% as a result of Jpm and others missing estimates.
Friday Jpm recovered most of thursdays losses but not Ry. How come?

Q: Earlier today you replied to a question with: "We are not big fans of averaging down, but if we were to do it BAM.A would likely be near the top of the list. When 'the market' brings down all stocks we are more comfortable buying more as opposed to when a company in isolation declines. We are not worrried about BAM getting through this market and/or upcoming recession. "
