Q: Although I currently hold VYM and VIG in my RRSP, SCHD has been on my radar for a few years and would appreciate your thoughts on adding this particular US$ ETF in my US$ Non Registered account. More specifically,
Q1. Would the withholding tax be eligible for the foreign tax credit when filing my tax return,
Q2. Would the US dividends be taxed as income, and
Q3. Of the three ETFs mentioned above, which one would you recommend for a US$ Non Registered account and your reason for the recommendation.
As usual, your sage advice is much appreciated.

Q: I am considering buying Telus in the Telecom sector, as I reduce my CPD holdings. Already own ENB, BAM, BRK.B, RDS.B.
With long term growth & financial stability in mind, please rank your preference in the North American telecom companies listed.
Also please advise if there are any small/medium sized companies in this sector worth considering. Thank you!

Q: I have been recently trying to learn about stock options especially calls and not puts for starters. And I've been looking at theoretical call options values to see if expected growth of the underlying stock is an input. It seems that the input is "volatility" which surprises me because volatility is both up and down. I get that volatility has a link to growth but why wouldn't a call option theoretical value focus on just the upside volatility which seems much more linked to growth. After all, a theoretical stock value includes an assumption about growth not volatility, so why not so for a call option value? Thanks.

Q: In the past few weeks, I've read a lot of negative articles and opinions about Palantir characterizing it as being a ''shareholder-unfriendly company that carries too many risks'' and I just wanted to ask your thoughts on the matter. Issue #1 that comes up a lot these days is about the excessive stock-based compensation program, which has been eating all the profits in recent quarters. #2 It appears that there is A LOT of selling from the company’s insiders and was wondering if it was worrisome. Thank you!

Q: Could you provide a quick explanation of what happened to CXR?

When I was young and foolish (still currently foolish, just a little older), I loaded up about 1/3 of my portfolio about half way down from it's peak, only to watch it pretty much lose 100% from there (always the optimist....thought it might rebound). I know (think) debt did them in, but what else happened. What were the red flags that surely the stock would've shown? What are the differences between them and other companies that take on debt?
