Q: Hi Team,
With index's near record highs it is very frustrating to have my portfolio down 20% over the last quarter, and still dropping (holding mostly growthy tech). I have read recently that even though the index's are hitting records, nearly half the underlying stocks in the index's are down 20% or more from highs. My question is now..do I keep holding or make the switch to the interest rate increase "friendly" stocks. My initial thoughts are that since my holdings are already down 20-50% on some of these names and the stories in the companies have not changed (other than the short reports on LSPD and NVEI), is it better to simply hold at this point and wait for better days, or should I be selling into the weakness and re adjusting my portfolio? Or...should I buck the trend and add to these dips. Seems like many long term opportunites come from adding to beat down names in times such as this. I am overweight tech, mostly 5i tech favourites.

Also, taking everything into consideration; what are some of your top ideas for 2022 TFSA contributions as of today that you would be looking at, either US or Cnd. My timeframe is 10yrs plus until retirement. Thanks

Shane

Q: I'm in the process of rebuilding my portfolio for 2022. It would be helpful if you could share with me a list of both Canadian and American companies that meet the following criteria:
1. They are some of your favourite companies from a fundamental perspective
2. They are currently buying back their own shares.
3. They offer a decent dividend.
4. They run businesses that offer good growth prospects for next year.
5. They currently offer good value.
6. These companies are so solid they would classify as 'core ' holdings.
At least six companies in each list would be appreciated.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for the support and ideas you have shared this past year. Definitely one of the best advisory services available to Canadians,

Q: Hi Team,
My stock portfolio has dropped a gut wrenching 12% just this week alone, and 27% since august. All while the index's are near highs. I am aware most my stock holdings are aggressive tech names, but I am confident they are all best in breed names. I hold many of 5i US tech name favorites as well as some cnd. Its's a bloodbath like I haven't seen since the initial sell off when covid hit. At that time, I remember 5i came out with a very good "near bottom" report advising subscribers the end may be "near". As I recall it was very close! Thank you for that! What I am asking now is...will you issue such a report when the time comes as to when to potentially add to high growth tech names that have been crushed on no merritt of their own? Or can you say now if that time is near? And what stocks, either US or Cnd would you be adding to for 5yr plus holds that have the potential to make an exceptional recovery? I know this is a crystal ball question but your track record is good in my eyes! Thanks for your service. Look forward to some "calming" advice.

Q: Hi, I was wondering what you would suggest for additions to an RESP which currently holds VGG
and GSY. Long term hold, moderate risk ok.
Two or three top recommendations please, and Thanks for your excellent service! Thanks, Lavern

Q: Recently finished entering my info into Portfolio Analysis.
I'm light on consumer cyclical, consumer defensive, and industrials.
My current exposure is all in ETFs. Can you recommend 3-5 in each sector for me to look into.

Q: Hi, I'm looking to save and invest $X every week into the market. I could either:

1) Buy etf's as there is really no commission on the purchases
2) Buy individual stocks as the funds accumulate. Commission is only ~$5, what would be the minimum $ amount to invest so that it's worth it?

If I were to choose option 1, what would be your two or three ETF choices for either dividend growth or pure capital gains growth. Same for option 2, what two or three individual dividend growth or growth stocks would you choose to allocate capital to every week or two?

Thanks!

Q: Thanks Peter. Your services have been very educational and rewarding. Had a good year. This is my first year of subscription and I just upgraded to the full Investor suite services. All the Q&A and research reports have been very helpful. It has made me more disciplined in my decisions as well as provided greater insights to the Investment process

As the end of the year, I am reflecting on the investments done in the year. I seek you opinion to opinion some of those as under. Position size or Industry allocation is not an issue. Time horizon is long 4+. No tax consequences and have patience; there is no need to raise cash

A. Stocks with above average returns-

ATZ 62%, TOI 72%, SIS 39%, TFII 19%, DOO 19%, NVEI 49%, WSP 32%, SHOP 19%, GSY 72%, U 106%

Do you recommend continuing to hold all of them? Would you consolidate sell some and add to some?
Would you endorse Investing new fund in 1 or 2 of them at current price to go to full position

B. Under performing stocks (loss/down)-

AT 56%, CTS 8%, EGLX 40%, LSPD 8%, MRS 69%, QST 35%, XBC 52%, Well 26%, AMGN 10%

Do you still have the conviction in these stocks? If yes which are best 3 and why? Do you recommend selling some of them or adding to some of them?

Again, thanks for your excellent services and deduct as many credits as appropriate

Q: Accidentally I fell on an Aritzia store on Sunday in a shopping center. I was surprised at how few customers shopped in the store compare to others. The mall was packed. I found only few interesting choices and little inventory. I already have a half position in ATZ but I am now hesitant to take a full position. I would like to know the reasoning behind your strong recommendation. Thanks to your advice, my portfolio has never performed so well in 30 years.

Q: Good evening team,
I understand this answer may have been asked but I'm unable to locate your answer. If one was concerned about inflation what would be your sectors of choice to invest in? Additionally, can you kindly mention 5 stocks in both CDN and the US that may potentially help guard against inflation?

Cheers
