Q: Good afternoon!
I have some substantial cash to deploy, ideally into Canadian dividend payers at 4% or more. I already have many of the usual suspects, including the following: ENB, BCE, PPL, BNS, CM, LIF, SIA, T, LIF, BEP.UN, DIR.UN, FSZ
I have been waiting until the December sell-off (i.e. Benj Gallander’s suggestion that it is the best time to buy), hoping to find some that have made the sell list that are good candidates for bounce backs in the future. After observing the market in the early stages of tax-loss selling, would you have some names that might fit that bill? Ideally maybe 5 or 6, although I realize that is a tall order, perhaps! Again, I am seeking dividend paying Canadian equities paying 4% or more.
Thanks! Paul

Q: Greetings 5i, doing some rebalancing and would like to add to 2 or 3 of the above positions. This is a RRSP account, all long term holds. In what order would you add today? Thank you.

Q: Hello, with the overall stock market reflecting a historically high valuation I would like to rotate some of my profits into a few safer names, ideally with relatively lower down-side risk and/or that pays a healthy dividend so I can receive some income in he interim. I appreciate that trying to time the market carries its own risks i.e. it could take a while. What names would you recommend?

Q: DEAR 5-I:
Thanks for the information on Parex, however, there was a second part to the question. If I dispose of Parex because it is doubtful if the political situation will improve in the near term- what could you suggest for a replacement, CNQ-? already own a full position in Suncor, ARC, Baytex, Tourmaline, and TVE. How about Peyto?

Thanks, Ben

Q: Hello

Canadian Oil/Gas names and pipelines stocks have retreated this week, possibly, in reaction to news of Trump's proposed tariffs on Canada.

What is the likelihood of these tariffs actually being put in place, with specific reference to Oil and Gas exports to US from Canada ?

If worse happens, would these levies impact Oil/Gas producers/integrated names and pipelines differently ?

Do you consider this week's pullback in these names, as an opportunity to increase exposure to these names and if so, in what order ?

( Noted that 5i bumped SU weight in Bal portfolio, Tuesday )

Thanks

Q: 1) My 20 ry old son wants to invest his money and seems to have high risk tolerance.. I'm generally more confident in the US mkt rather than the CDN. Is he better off...
a) transferring his CN money into US and taking the 24% hit and selling in 10 years the exchange rate might be...?
b) buying US stocks in their CDN version which is usually hedged?
c) or buying a US stock in a CDN acct and losing the exchange fee when buying and selling?

2) Can you pick 6 stocks that you think should do well for the next 5 years?

Q: Recognizing that I never got past Economics 101 , I see the oil industry as having terrible supply and demand dynamics .We are oversupplied even with
OPEC + purposely restraining output and worldwide oil reserves continuing to grow. The oil energy sector continues to be pressured by the green energy politics and technology. With 2 significant wars going on and supply lines being restrained by Houthi activity , the price of oil has been less than spectacular. Canadian oil companies are cheap for a reason. Please provide another view on this sector. Thanks. Derek

Q: What effect do you think Trump's election and energy policies (Drill, Baby, Drill) will have on Canada's energy industry, both on the big upstream companies such as CNQ and Suncor and the smaller exploration companies such as Kelt and Tamarack.

Q: Hi 5i Guys,
We have generated some cash and I would like your thoughts about parking the extra cash in BCE or Telus and at least getting paid a nice dividend which greatly exceeds the interest that we're getting.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

I was thinking BN, VFV, EIT.UN, TVK. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks for the amazing service. Brian
