Q: I presently have these underwater stocks in a RESP. BCE, BEP.UN, ENB, FTS, LMN, XIC, ZEB, ZRE. The RESP will not be need for the next 10 years. I would like to sell some of these underwater stocks. Which stocks would you recommend keeping & which stocks would you recommend selling. Thanks … Cal

Q: I read an article in the paper today about something called the "Stable Dividend Portfolio". Basically it proposed that an investor select and hold the best dividend paying companies in Canada throughout the entire year. (Not buy in May and Go Away". Nor move back and forth from an emphasis on bonds to one on stocks. My questions are:
1. Have you heard of such a strategy and if so, do you agree with it?
2. What 12 Canadian companies would you select for such a portfolio?

Q: I have some weak spots in my income portfolio; Magna, Telus, the REITS (CAR and GRT) and IBM.

Any suggestions on what to replace them with, or just stay the course?

Q: I'm looking for a list of companies with a dividend yield 4% or higher who are able to support this dividend for the foreseeable future.

Q: I'm considering switching ALA (in an RIF) for ENB.

Q: Current overall portfolio weightings in energy and utilities sectors are as follows: ENB 2.5%, ALA 1.5%, TRP 1.5%, SU 1.5%, BIP.UN 1.5%, PD .75%, TOU .75%, CNQ .5%. Please comment on any possible additions, deletions, switches, increased/decreased weightings, considering a long-term (10 year) time horizon and the impending South Bow spinoff involving TRP

Q: Hi 5i, I have the following stocks (NVDA CSU LMN HPS.A BN XDIV RY CNQ JPM BRK.B VDY ENB) equally distributed in my rrsp, these stocks are generating 75% of my dividend-income goal. What changes would you suggest to get the last 25% , I do not mind selling my gold-stocks (the first 3) , but I would prefer to keep them. Hope it makes sense. Thank you 5i.

Piggy backing off one of my last questions on building a solid portfolio from scratch through diversification et al(THANK YOU!). Knowing you can’t get personal; looking for some mid to long term hold recommendations (either US or CA) in the following sectors with growth upside in mind as I have significant cash (250K+) sitting in my RRSP doing nothing. I am currently quite top heavy in Tech – and own the above in registered and non-registered accounts.

If you have several recos for a sector, can you please rank in order of preference. Additionally, if there is a sector that can be put to the side with the idea of prioritizing others, I would be keen to know. Also open to add ETF's to represent a sector. Q: Hi team. I'm ok with some risk and am 100% equities with an average 13% return per year over 10 years thanks to your team!!

Now my question. We sold an investment property with the plan to use the money to fund a new investment property which will be built in 3 years...so this is my time frame. The money will be split between a TFSA & a taxable account, with the taxable account having about 75%.

What do you think if these for the TFSA - CSU, BN, SHOP and DOL?

These for the taxable - WSP, ENB, TFII, DSG, BNS, SU, ATD, BEPC, H, and a little more DOL?

Would you reorganize these between the 2 accounts? Alternatively, would you choose something else due to the timeframe?

Q: Hi, With addition of CNQ to Income portfolio, Energy Sector exposure will go up to 12.5% (ENB, PSI, PKI, CNQ and CPD). Balanced Portfolio currently has 7.6% in Energy ( ENB-3.6%, SU-4%). If you had cash, would you increase Energy weight to at least 10%+, Today and if so, will CNQ be your preferred name ?

Also, based on the Companies' financial strength and market dynamics of Energy sector, would you consider a combined weight of 15% ( CNQ, SU and ENB ) reasonable or excessive for a Moderate to High Risk profile investor ?

Q: a sunlife life insurance policy was purchased for grandchildren as an investment for them on the advice of a financial planner- I am embarrassed to say so far $9000 in annual premiums has been paid, with 11 more remaining before the policy is paid in full. If I cancel this policy it will be a loss. However; the dollars which would have gone to sunlife could be used for a better investment. Your suggestions would be welcomed. Q: I have some cash in my RRSP to invest for a long-term hold. My primary goal for these funds is to add income from a higher dividend-paying, large and stable company. I’d also like some upside on capital appreciation although not the primary focus. I’m looking at these companies and I’m open to other suggestions.
