Q: Could you please provide your top two picks in both the materials and energy sectors?
I don't have any investments in materials now and wonder if I should have something. Currently I hold ENB and PKI in energy and am thinking of switching PKI for TOU or SU.
The remainder of my portfolio is well balanced and as a retiree stability and income are more important than speculative growth.

Q: Just a comment on your advice to Francesco.....if he is looking to deploy the US dollars from his recent trade and is interested in ENB, he would be best to purchase the ENB shares on the US side with the US dollars he has, then transfer the shares to the CND side. This way he avoids all fx charges on the dividend as well as on the trade.
Cheers

Q: As with many of your members, im considering some portfolio adjustments and deployment of TFSA contributions to start the year.

What names in Canada and the US are you most excited about in 2022/2023 that you view as meriting consideration?

Q: Would like to increase my weighting in resources. I have PKI,ENB,PPL equal weighting at around 3% each. Would like to sell one of them then acquire 2 producers large/small cap with yield with equal weighting at 3%. Could you rank the one to sell and suggestion some producers ?

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and 5i Team,

Do you have a recent opinion of HUC? I'm thinking of it as a way to use dividends from our other holdings to periodically buy shares, as we can buy and sell HUC at no cost with iTrade. Being underweight in the energy sector, holding only ENB and PKI, I'm thinking that it's a good way to "dip our toes" into this commodity ETF. I do understand that HUC can be volatile, and has relatively high fees, but as a managed ETF, its MER doesn't seem to me to be excessive.

Your thoughts please, and thanks in advance.

Q: I own shares in these 3 pipelines but have no exposure to green energy I am seeking modest capital gains coupled with a yield of 3 percent plus. would it make sense to sell one of the pipes and reinvest the proceeds into BEPC? thanks Richard.

Q: I have Fiera in my RRIF and while it pays a great dividend it has not grown. Enbridge on the other hand has also a good dividend and has grown. I currently own 3 banks and Pembina pipeline. How would you compare from a risk perspective and would consider this a good alternative. Other recommendations would be appreciated. I am a dividend moderate growth retired investor.

Q: With proceeds from a recently matured GIC that paid 3% I am thinking about buying 5 Canadian dividend stocks with a current yield focus and that as a mini portfolio gives me the best chance to get my capital back in 5ish years. In effect creating my own market linked GIC that I get income from, not my bank for guaranteeing the capital on a specific day 5 years hence

Categories and top contenders in each to buy today are;

Bank - BNS
Lifeco - SLF
Utility - FTS
Telco - T
Pipeline - ENB

What do you think of the strategy? What would be your top choices today in each category?

What companies would you add or delete from this list? Should I include a few US names?

Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

For my wife's 2022 TFSA contribution, and my contribution, and wishing to add to existing positions only, as well as noting that both sectors are low (according to Portfolio Analysis), would you be okay with adding the 6K to PBH for one account, and 6K to ENB for the other?

Thanks as always for your valued advice.

Q: I bought enb, in part of it's steady increase of dividend pay outs, how ever a talking head said that in the pass enb has been issuing debt to support the dividend, sounds like smoke and mirror, in the future they will need to cut back on the payouts, what are your thoughts, should I switch it to another pipeline. On another matter, I read your article in the globe, man I had to laugh, you have led an interesting career.

Thanks
Auftar
