Q: I believe the combined new entities of the old Bam.a have lost 15% in the last three trading days. This combined with our previous ytd loss of approximately 22%.means Brookfield is down about 37% so far this year?Is this correct? What are they thinking?!

Q: Good morning. When Brookfield announced they would create Brookfield Corp, I doubled my BAM.A holdings to get a larger base in the new entity. Looking at the market activity after the fact would you sell the added BAM.A and buy the new entity for an even larger position or allocate the funds elsewhere?
Sorry just thought of this I've modeled a dividend portfolio for my son to enhance his retirement. I've included XBB for a bond position. My question am I being to cautious? Would you ignore them entirely or do a 70/ 30 conventional split? Any other bond funds you would consider? Merry Christmas
David

Q: Dear 5i,
I currently hold BIPC and BEPC in my NonReg, TFSA and Pension accounts.
In your opinion, which new split entiity; BN or BAM offers the least overlap with my current two holdings? Which entity gets the fees from BIPC and BEPC? These new entities are very confusing and it would be great if you published a special article about them and how we might use them.
thanks

Q: Will the 10% US withholding tax on dispositions and distributions of PTPs, levied against non-US persons effective January 1, 2023 apply to the old BAM.A or the new BN (or both)? And how is BAMR impacted?
Brookfield website says "section 1446(f) will not apply) to BAM.A but gives no detail, unlike their website on BIP (which details that section 1446(f) does not apply due to being Bermuda based and that the 10% exception rule applies)
I have a significant holding in BAM.A and want to know if I should take action prior to Jan 1, 2023

Q: Apologize for another Brookfield question, but like many others on here I'm confused with what happened with BAM.A
If this was a reverse split of 1-4, shouldn't the price of the stock have gone up (before trading)?
I had 400 BAM.A and now have 100 BAM for under $40 and BN isn't showing up in my account yet. The Investorline trader says he sees 100 BN in my account, so it should show up soon.
So 400 shares turns into 200 shares and unless BN is a lot more than BAM, this split is not looking right.
I know I'm probably missing something, but so far I don't get it.
thanks for any help,
Paul

Q: hi, which do you like for a buy today, brookfield asset management or brookfield corporation? both ? can you briefly compare/contrast each of them as investments for long term hold. could you provide the new dividend for each too.
cheers, chris

Q: Re the Adjusted Cost Base for BN and BAM (still no symbol comes up), I set mine at 1/4 of the ACB of the original BAM.A. However InvestorLine set my ACB for BAM at less than half that and BN higher than 3/4. I have not seen any discussion anywhere including the BN website for how to establish the ACB. Do you have any information to help?
Q: What am I missing? The market seems to hate this new BAM/BN spin out.Talk about loss of market value!!!

Q: With the split of BAM.A, would you transfer the new BAM to an Income Portfolio as it is more a dividend paying stock but keep BN in a Balance Portfolio as it is more growth-eee?........Tom
Q: Hi 5i,
with the recent split I can't seem to find the canadian ticker;
BAM:CA in your database.
thanks

Q: With the split of BAM.A into BAM and BN now complete, I am considering whether to sell the BAM spinoff shares and redeploy the cash into BN, or sell BN and buy more BAM, or use some cash and add to both. What do you think of the long term outlook for each company? Is BAM going to be mainly a dividend payor, or there some growth there too? I know you like BN for long term growth.
