Q: I hold both L and EMP.A in a balanced portfolio. Any need to hold both? Divest myself of one or both due to losses? Any bright lights for the sector in the future?

Q: I am constructing a dividend growth portfolio with the intention of holding all positions for the longterm, holding the following equities in equal weight (likely only one of MRU or L - or should I include both?), with 80% of the portfolio consisting of these individual equities and 20% in the ETF VGG.
Would there be any in this list you would not include, and are there other Canadian equities you would consider for this list? Is this the appropriate number of positions for such a portfolio. Please deduct multiple credits as required, thank you.

Q: I hope you all had a great holiday. This is for when you get a chance.
I am planning trigger a loss by selling DG to help offset all the capital gains that I will have in 2024. Wanting to replace it with WMT, Cost, L, MRU or EMP.A. Looking for net return. Your thoughts please.
Happy New Year.
Ian

Q: Hi,
My question is of the companies I've listed, which 2 or 3 would you add to for a 5-10 year horizon. I currently own all of these, with no total value exceeding $500.
I am just starting a small portfolio and have $1000 USD to put into my RRSP to add to these exisiting stocks.
How would you rank them?
Thanks!

Q: I am planning to buy a half position in one of these companies, partly as a defensive holding. Even though the markets are up significantly in the last 6 months, shares in both these companies have been in fairly steady decline totalling over 10% in that time. I find it difficult to buy when a stock price has negative momentum. Do you have any indicators of what is leading to the price decline and when it could turn around?
Q: I would like to set up an simple and safe American portfolio that does not deliver any dividends (no tax consequences). Berkshire Hathaway comes to mind as a diversified holding. Are there any others that you could suggest?
