Q: I have heard on BNN market call that Telus pay out ratio is higher than its cash flow. Also that the BCE significant profit is derived from landline phones which will be declining. In such case an investment in these two telcos at this time would be of questionable value . Would you agree with such statement?

Q: I know you just added GOOS to one of your portfolios and mentioned it is cheaper compared to peers. What multiples are you looking at vs peers and what is it trading at? Also how is the balance sheet and how much revenue comes from China?
Thanks!
Also, just took a look at their website and just on a fashion perspective, it is doing really well (especially those Tron-like jackets... wish I could afford one).

Q: when does td report quarterly earnings?
Q: I have pretty much thought of GUD as a long, long term hold, and one that would be good to have in a market crisis when they could put their cash to work efficiently. But there it was and they didn't. Its starting to feel like aside from being generally close to book value, there is not much to see here. Have you had reason to rethink your position on GUD? Thank-you.
Q: Hello 5i,
I don't know if you have any expertise in old stock certificates but I thought I would run this by you just to see. I just opened an old box in an inheritence that we recently received and it looks a bit like someone was dreaming of making it rich: a series of old mining stocks. I have done a quick internet search but have found nothing. I don't know if you know if there is any simple way of dealing with this. They have names like: Atlas Chibougamau Mines Limited, Galloway Chibougamau Mines Limeted, beresford Lake Mines Limited, Conro Devopment Corporation Limited ( another Quebec mine), Laval Quebec Mines Limited,Peninsular Petroleum Limited, Alliance Mining and Securities Limited. As I say, this is not your area but maybe you have some ideas. thanks

Q: I have $20,000 in CBO. Because I thought it pays out interest I have been keeping it in my TFSA account. Should I put it in my unregistered account and next year replace it with LNF which, hopefully will grow with a ten year outlook?
Q: Which EFT, preferably traded in Canada TSX would fit/ represent the Basic Materials Sector ?
Q: FSZ trades exdividend today. If I purchase stock today do I receive the dividend or does the seller receive the dividend? Thx
Q: Does it matter price-wise if you buy a stock before/after the dividend is paid? Is it the same answer if you buy before/after it goes ex-dividend? I am a long term investor so wondering if there is any significant savings to trying to time the purchase a bit?
Appreciate your insight.
Paul F.

Q: Good Morning,
Can you recommend any Asian ETFs which exclude China? I have enough Chinese investment but no direct SE Asian exposure.
Do you think this would be a good investment at this time?
Thanks for your help....
Dennis

Q: Hi,
When you provide a % allocated to gold, should we add our stocks and bullion together?
For example, I own KL and WM in terms of stocks and also PHYS. I always see the stocks as an type of investment and PHYS as another (commodity/currency) and don't really add them together when looking at the % of the portfolio. is this a mistake?
I know they are closely linked but would appreciate your thoughts on how investors should view these when setting up their portfolios.
Thanks,
Dan

Q: Based on quarterly results and statements from CEO Porter on BNS’s liquidity and loan losses, if I didn’t have any bank positions right now, would you start a position in BNS now or wait a bit or would you prefer a different bank?
Q: If the Liberals join others in denouncing the use of Hussein technology in Canada, what would be the ramifications for Telus? Would they have to replace their use and what might be the cost? Thank you.
