Q: I've still got my now worthless XBC shares in my trading account. Seems its taking years to finalize the bankrupcy. Is there any benefit to leaving these shares or is it best to get rid of them and claim the loss? What do I ask the brokerage to do to get rid of these shares to produce the loss statement, since I can't sell them on the open market? Thx

Q: Received a Class Action Notice from XBC..CA regarding a proposed class action settlement, which reads in part:
"SUMMARY OF THE SETTLEMENT:
On October 19, 2023, the Superior Court of Québec (“Court”) approved the settlement of this class action.
Under the Settlement, CAD $5,000,000 (the “Settlement Amount”) has been paid in full and final settlement of all claims against the Defendants, including Class Counsel’s fees, applicable taxes and expenses, and interest, in exchange for a full release and settlement of the class action."
Number of shares purchased was 800 @$10. Would you know the approximate number of shares that were outstanding at the time (Nov 10 2019 to Mar 24 2021) and In your experience, is it worth it to submit a claim?
Many thanks.

Q: So, we all make bad buys, some are real big, and we know them in our accounts, so for interest sake, what would you consider to be the 5 worst buys that have been made in the growth portfolio in the last 3 years.
Thanks again

Q: Hi,
I did not need the capital loss in 2022, so I kept the shares. Is there a way to know what is the status of the bankruptcy? Would that be from the site of Deloitte https://www.insolvencies.deloitte.ca/en-ca/pages/Xebec.aspx ?
Can we expect any formal news for the investors in 2023 ? Do XBC patents have any value ? Thanks as usual.

Q: The new additions to the growth portfolio appear very conservative. Especially after past picks such as xbc, qst, and mrs. Has the methodology of the growth portfolio changed? Big bounce potential? STN is near ath.

Q: Wondering what has happened with this company. It is now in US funds and no longer halted. Noticed some trading yesterday and today none. Will this be difficult to sell and do you see this trading again. If it does I'm assuming one should sell. Would there be any point in hanging onto it. Also, if no one is buying/selling what is process for getting rid of it to claim a loss? Thank you!

Q: I am down on these names in my TFSA account
CTS (-44%)
ENGLX (-73%)
QST (-28%)
XBC (100%)

Is it time to throw in the towel on all of these, consolidate into one name or use my next year TFSA contribution limit to dollar cost average down?

I also hold an ETF, VGRO, in this account which is down 13%.

Q: Hello Peter,
Is Xebec, basically bankrupt and no hope of turnaround? The company is in the right space green energy so what in the world happened here? They have signed many contracts .. is it bad management or ? Would your advice be to sell the moment it is no longer halted or do you think there is chance here of an upswing? This was a favourite on market call. Are the managers who come on do not really understand companies when they recommend it as this is happening at times when looking at other companies such concordia health etc

Q: Hello
I bought all these stocks believing they were well positioned for the energy revolution. Investors have not been interested in supporting these companies and now we have one of the first to go bankrupt. More to follow as QST has been on the ropes now for five years or more.
Fact is, when the sea if full of escaping methane (pipeline sabotage), who is going to pay a company to collect methane from cow dung?

Any thoughts on.......
What is it going to take from these companies to go broke?
How much more time do they have in public markets?
Any worth the pain of holding through another market crash?

Thanks

Q: Hello, Any thoughts/insights on the jump in XBC today? I have a huge loss in this stock, bought way too many shares at $4.35. I'm wondering if this might be the time to get out or whether there may be some upside from here? Thank you.
