"According to research compiled by UNITE HERE, at least $5.8 billion of Brookfield affiliates' office and retail loans are either in default, have been surrendered to lenders, or are at risk of default according to analysts and industry press.

The financial health of Brookfield's commercial real estate holdings may be of particular interest to current or potential policyholders of American National Insurance Group, the Texas-based insurer acquired by Brookfield in 2022. UNITE HERE's research has uncovered over $1 billion in debt instruments that appear to be related to Brookfield's real estate holdings on American National's 2022 sworn Annual Statement. These include bonds issued by three entities related to Brookfield Property Partners (formerly BPY), which Brookfield took private in 2021 after BPY suffered over $2 billion in losses in 2020; and bonds issued by Canary Wharf Group Investment Holdings, the London office complex jointly owned by Brookfield and Qatar's sovereign wealth fund and which had its bond rating downgraded to junk in June 2023 by Moody's. Q: I own TD and RY and looking to add another financial for total return focus. Would you suggest another bank such as National Bank or an insurance company such as Sunlife or a financial such as Brookfied Corp or another to add some diversification within financials?

Q: I currently have 40% of my portfolio in Canadian banks, utilities, BN,TOI, LMN and other dividend paying stocks Mostly purchased in the last year. I'm considering legging 60% of my remaining cash in my portfolio into VTI and VUS in the next 10 months. Do have any thoughts or concerns?
My understanding is any US stocks paying a dividend should go into an RRSP account. All my investments are in RRSP's and TSFA's.

I'm a retiree and looking for a balance of income and growth, and currently holding the above in the financial sector and need to trim down as per the Portfolio tracking service suggest. Could u rank your preference from the Income and growth , from Most Prefer (5) to the least (1). Feel free to add names not in the list above.

Q: Saw a pundit on BNN last week who was short BN. I can't recall his name ......I don't pay much attention to the shorts but he did say one thing that interested me. He said that 80% of BN's NAV is the property owned by Brookfield Property Partners . Can you confirm that and comment on the significance of that figure if any ?

I'm also thinking or swapping my position in BEP.UN { up 238% in a RRIF } for BN on a " What have you done for me lately ? " basis . Quarterly reports seem to be dependent on the weather ...... I've also noticed that even when they have a bad quarterly report the stock does not get punished which confuses me ...... Anyways would you endorse a switch from BEP.UN to BN ?
