Q: I own BN with no intention of selling, but I find the dividends of the other Brookfield's interesting for my RRSP account with the potential of some capital growth as well. I know this type of question has been asked in the past, but not since the market downturn. Would you see a benefit of owning any of the others along with BN, and if so, which ones, and what would your total percentage of Brookfield holdings be. Thanks!

Q: Hi group can you please comment on Capitol direct trust - last quarter they paid out 9% + over last 3 yrs they have averaged 7+ %. What is your assessment of the risk rewards in this sector i suspect that restrictions on liquidly and management fees are concerns but the attractive quarterly payout are very attractive in this unstable market overall your thoughts please. I am 74 and retired so steady income is a driver. Also please rate the above stocks (1-10 . 10 being best) Thanks for your help

Q: In an earlier question you mentioned that although you disliked giving targets for entry points, you suggested $37 for BEP. That's $10. below its current price: does this mean that you expect further drops? My concern is only that, because of my age, time in the market is limited, so waiting for recovery is less feasible than it was when I was younger.

Q: In any otherwise well diversified RIF portfolio I am considering exiting T and BEP.

I am looking to replace them with a couple of holdings that you feel have far greater upside in the next 3-5 years (realizing that the volatility may increase to some extent but in line with the potential for greater returns).

I have referred to several of your current favourites (which we do not currently hold) as potentials and am open to other suggestions you might have along the same lines.

If you could comment on the elimination of T and BEP and also if you believe any of the listed ones (or others ) would provide a substantially better risk/rewad profile over the next 3-5 years it would be appreciated.

Q: Up to mid 2019, this stock was cruising on a gradual increase, then it doubled over the next 18 months. Now, some 38 months later, it is approaching where it was before it's 18 month growth spurt. I believe that you said the stock benefitted from increased interest in green energy, and that now that interest has waned. Would there be any more to describe the drop of some 42% over the past 3 years? Do you think the 6.3% dividend will be cut again? Thank you very much for your valuable perspective.

Q: Hello 5i,
I am considering purchasing BEP:US to meet my P.A. targets for both Sector (Utilities) and Geography (U.S. & International).
In researching BEP, all I could find was one pie chart that indicated its geographical footprint as being 50% U.S., 35% Canada, and 15% Brazil.
While this will work for me, my question is "how accurate is that as a geographical breakdown?" It seems to be all I could find.
Can you offer any other suggestions for Utilities with a greater U.S./International bent? U.S.-denominated is preferred - as is a comparable dividend...

Q: I'm looking at BIP and BEP primarily for dividend reliability and some growth. According to Morningstar, they both have very low return on assets (somewhat understandable given that they are very asset heavy) but also return on equity.

Normally, that would be enough for me to avoid the stock but they are both generally well thought of by analysts. What am I missing?

Q: I am starting to plan for year end tax losses taking. Although these companies pay good dividends, I have capital losses greater than the dividend income. Do you have any thoughts on the potential of these companies to recover in 2024.

Q: I have some US$ and want to buy BEPC:US. I held BEP:US and a few years ago and faced higher taxes on dividends and maybe capital gains from the US with a partnership - can you confirm this will not be the case with BEPC:US? I also just bought BCE:US - can you please confirm that I will still get the Canadian dividend tax credit for with BCE:US and BEPC:US.

Q: Hello 5i Team

I currently hold in my US$ denominated RRSP Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BEP) to avoid complications with taxation of BEP.UN in a taxable account.

I want to proceed with buying Brookfield Renewable Corporation (BEPC) in my taxable account to receive Canadian Eligible Dividends. I would then sell my BEP holdings in the RRSP.

Could you please provide your top 5 ideas in the US market (i.e. NYSE or NASDAQ listed) for electrical utility and or renewable electrical generation to replace the BEP units in my RRSP.

Q: BAM, BEP and EIF are each at about 2.7% of my total holdings. I can top up one to 5%. Which would you choose and why? And if the answer is 'none of the above', please suggest two Canadian companies with dividends >4% with some growth you would recommend, irrespective of sector. (T, NPI and SU already held and not wishing to increase my investment here at this time.) Thank you.
