Q: Extendicare is government funded? Do you believe that the government is going to increase patient funding and also aid in funding for construction of new facilities going forward? Would you recommend buying any of these three now? What is your ranking of these three?

Chartwell Retirement Residences (CSH.UN)
-
NorthWest Healthcare Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (NWH.UN)
Q: I noticed in a question you answered on April 21st you stated that you prefer NWH.UN over CSH.UN. My question is would you make the switch from Chartwell to Northwest Healthcare. In my case I can sell 1600 shares of Chartwell and get 1475 shares of Northwest Looks like my month dividend would also increase over 116 dollars a month too. Thoughts?
Thanks
Thanks

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor. A question earlier today has motivated me to finally ask this question....been thinking of it for quite a while. It had to do with potential rising interest rates and your response was that dividend investors should be prepared for a bumpy ride in the short term (my paraphrase of your answer).
I own the above securities and for the most part trim-add around core positions that I hold for the long term. Is it possible to divide the above securities into two camps....one that would be "ok" in a rising interest rate environment and the other that I should consider trimming a bit or maybe selling? I am ok riding things out for the long term and do not normally react to short term volatility.
Thanks for your help....Steve

Q: Hello 5i, I am looking at the senior care companies and would appreciate your opinion as to senior care investments as these companies have had a rough ride but with the vaccine coming out I think these companies may have a sunnier future for growth and income. Your thoughts would be appreciated also could you list these 3 companies in order from best first. Thanks
Q: Wondering what your thoughts are on Chartwell these days. Is it likely to come back after Covid? I own a moderate position in a LIF and wonder if it is a good idea to hold it. It's all bad news about the care homes right now so I hate to sell at the worst time. What are your prospects for this going forward or is there another one I should switch to?
Q: Greetings,
1) What are the latest Dividend payout ratios? My sources are giving numbers that seem all over the place.
2) If a dividend cut was on the cards, how would you rank which company is most likely to reduce or cut?
Many thanks!

Q: I hold A&W and CSH in my non registered trading account at a small gain. From a tax point of view would it make sense to move to my RRSP so the distribution(dividends) are not taxed as interest? I have contribution room in my RRSP.
Thanks Greg
Thanks Greg

Q: Good day,
I have built my daughter's RRSP with your wise direction. She is up 15 to 25% on BAM;EMA;FTS;L;OTEX;RY; BEP and RBF 1030.(My choice) Wonderful. Thank you. We are down in descending order on ENB;CSH;BCE and MFC.
Overweight in Utilities and Financials but okay with that.
Would you add to the latter group? Add any new ones.
Looking forward to Peter on BBN Tuesday.
Long term 25 years+. Many thanks!

Q: I have owned this stock for a few years now. Does the company have any medium term potential to recover and provide a steady reliable dividend along with some growth or will it continue to languish? In your opinion is the recent price action an opportune time to exit the position?
Q: Why is Chartwell Retirement Residences up so much recently? What is their future in your view. Should I keep holding or sell while it is high?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Q: I'm looking for some ideas on how to strengthen my healthcare holdings, which only account for 5% of my portfolio. I have a full position in NVO, half positions in CSH.UN and SIS, and have just started to build a position in the PSCH small cap health care fund. GUD and COV are technically present, but both are losers and small enough to ignore/sell.
Q#1: What additions/changes would you suggest for a retired person who is in pretty solid financial shape (5 year holding horizon, can tolerate some risk, but not aiming to shoot out the lights)?
Q#2: What percentage of the total portfolio would you aim to put in healthcare these days? It seems like there are a lot of developments in this field.

RE: Trying to get the hang of Tax loss selling
Our holdings in Chartwell is down 17% and Sienna down 13%.
Comparing both on a 12 month chart seems to indicate more resilience with Chartwell.
Does it make sense to sell Sienna, take losses then on the same day buy Chartwell?
Cheers!

Q: I bought shares in csh.un many years ago in my registered account for income and exposure to the health sector. Do you recommend selling them today? If I sell them what investment would replace it?
Q: In the aging demographics trade, which of the three companies would you buy right now and which would you sell?
