Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Can you recommend some high paying US stocks or ETF's to hold in my Rif account. Please include some that distribute monthly payments if possible. I am mostly interested in income, not capital gains seeing most of my US investments are down. Thanks, James

Q: Looking at 3 very different asset classes that offer high yields and would appreciate your help in sorting which ones offer best risk/ reward.
1. Covered calls: NXF, ZWC, ZWU, LIFE, JEPI;
2. Credit - OCSL, ORCC, MAINMAIN
3. Yield - GCOW, EIT-UN.
Questions: 1. What is your comfort level on risk/reward for any or all;
2. Please choose which are investable with short commentary as to rationale and and target buy prices

Q: What is your opinion of these equities, in general and in the current environment? Are there any which you would consider for a long-term hold for income/growth? Or sell?

With thanks.

Q: At almost 69, moving from High Growth/Risk to High Dividends. Would very much appreciate your comments on these 3. Is the 27.7% Yield on SBLK safe?????
Which would be better. Also, any W/H Tax implications in a Registered/Non-Reg account? Thanks so much!

Q: Hello 5i,
I came across this equity when you recommended it earlier. I am assuming that given you listed it first, it would be the highest-ranked choice out of the options you provided. My parameters are very similar to those of the member who asked the initial question; we are retired, conservative, dividend-oriented investors with a more or less well-balanced portfolio as per P.A. We are very slightly under in Financial Services and underweight the U.S. by about 4.0%.
So, (finally) to my question: what kind of weighting might you recommend for MAIN:US? My thought was something in the 2.0 - 2.5 % range bearing in mind that if I make up the difference in the U.S. with another holding, I need to have a minimum of 1.0 - 1.25% available for that as well.
Many thanks!!!
Best to all at 5i!
Cheers,
Mike

Q: Hi !

Would you suggest a top-five list of Canadian companies that have a monthly dividend--with an eye to capital preservation?
Perhaps the same parameters except that it would be for American companies?

Much appreciated!

In the past I've held and eventually sold; KKR(kkr), Blackstone(bx), Carlyle(cg) and W.P. Carey(wpc).

At one time or another each has been reviewed by analysts on BNN ----- but never have I seen or heard of a review about Main Street Capital Research (MAIN).

Why is that ? Is there something about MAIN that makes it an inferior investment to the others ?

Would you have a preference among these 5 financial stocks?

Q: Are there etf's that simplify the tax headaches associated with owning individual US limited partnerships and reits such as mainstreet capital and american tower. Any comments on these two companies would be appreciated. Thanks

Q: Please review MAIN'S financials with AD - they are in the same business, but of course size does matter! However main has nearly a 60+% profit to offset their risk positions. Your comments please. Thank you.
