Q: Subject: Follow-Up on Monthly Dividend ETF Recommendations

Hi 5i team,

Thank you for your thoughtful response to my question regarding safer monthly income alternatives to Whitecap Resources. I understand the appeal of Canadian ETFs, especially in registered accounts where avoiding the 15% U.S. withholding tax is beneficial.

That said, I was wondering are there any U.S.-listed ETFs that you would feel comfortable recommending which offer monthly dividends, strong diversification, and a yield comparable to or better than Whitecap’s, while maintaining a reasonable level of safety and consistency?

I’d be open to covered call or enhanced income strategies as long as the risk profile isn’t excessive. Would appreciate your perspective on whether there are any U.S. options worth considering despite the tax implication.

Thanks again,

Q: Can you recommend some high paying US stocks or ETF's to hold in my Rif account. Please include some that distribute monthly payments if possible. I am mostly interested in income, not capital gains seeing most of my US investments are down. Thanks, James

Q: Hi 5iResearch team
I am in the process of doing re-weighting. I know the above etfs. The US bond etf (VGSH) has very low interest yield compared to the CAD ones (XSB, ZCS, and ZCM).

1. Are there other US bond etfs that are similar to the above CAD ones in terms of yield and risk?

2. ZUP is in CAD$ and US$. Can you please recommend two more (CAD or US) etfs that are similar to ZUP in terms of yield and risk?

Thank you for the great service.

Q: Hello, looking for emerging markets, ETFs you recommend ex China and ex India (as I already hold INDY and FXI). Also looking for non-Canadian REIT ETF recommendations (I hold XRE). Finally what are your thoughts on preferred share ETFs and which would you recommend (Canadian or not) outside of CPD.
Thanks!

Q: Hello Peter, Like most of us, are concern about the effect of the coming rate increases. How safe will the above preferred shares be, would you consider them as good choices for income and safety? Also, can you suggest equivalents in the Canadian market? Many thanks for your valued advise, J.A. P. Burlington

Q: Hi Peter and team,
If US and Canadian stock market goes down say ~10%, how it may impact preferred etf such as ZPR, CPD, PGX (US) or split preferred (e.g. FFN.PR.A)?
Thanks
