Q: Could I get your opinion on the Q3 earnings and weakness in the stock. Thanks,
Q: "We’re increasingly of the view that quarterly earnings are mostly noise,” she (Eileen Mercier, director at IFC) said. “I tend to think of the income statement in most industries as a work of fiction. It has become so complicated that most people can’t understand them or read them anyway.”
If we de-emphasize the importance of the quarterly report, in part because it is unaudited and therefore open to manipulation, should we therefore pay far more attention to the audited annual report, especially the MD&A section?
I know that 5i looks at the quarterly numbers partly because so many questions come from subscribers on assessing reported and expected numbers. What I'm curious about in the 5i process is what percentage of the company research process is put into analyzing the annual reports of say the last 5 years of an average company?

Q: I own a half position in Intact (IFC) and its had a good move upward since early November 2014. Do you think it is now fully/over valued and does it have more upside in 2015? I don't have any other P&C insurance companies. Are there others that have more upside going forward?
Thanks, Tim.
Thanks, Tim.
Q: Hi 5i,
I hold both SLF and IFC in my retirement account. Are they different enough that I can hold both or should I get rid of one? Do you still like IFC for growth and dividend growth? I also hold several other financials: banks and REITs so I would remain diversified. Thanks!

Q: Intact Financial informs they are experimenting with investments abroad. They advised they invested $20 million in a broker in Brazil. Is there somewhere in their financial statement that would reveal who the broker is and what percentage of it they now own and if this may be Life Insurance or perhaps Non Standard property/auto?
Q: what are your thoughts on IFC now that their results are in and it appears they have the balance sheet for acquisitions? thanks for your service!
Q: What are your current thoughts on Intact (IFC)? It has been on a pretty good run lately, but this appears to be largely the result of PE expansion? Perhaps it is time to take profits?
Many thanks

Q: Hello Team,
We would like to ask a question about capital losses. In order to off set gains this year we need to sell a portion of our holdings. The options are either H&R REIT or Intact financial. In your opinion which holding will likely do better in 2014? We could perhaps sell a portion of each. What is your opinion please?
Have a great time in Europe. thanks

Q: Could you please provide an update on Intact Financial (IFC)? It is roughtly 42% property and casualty insurance, and 58% personal automobile insurance. Would this company lose capital value as interest rates rise or is there enough forward growth to ensure a positve long-term investment?
Many thanks!
Many thanks!

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
Thanks for all the helpful information and we renewed our membership.
We recently purchased shares of Intact Financial [IFC] and yesterday the share price dropped over 3%. We couldn't find any reason for this. All the news say that the company have good earnings and have increased their dividend. Is this just profit taking ? Your comments would be very helpful. thanks again.

Q: Peter - With IFC's pullback of late and some volume to support the price from its decline, how do you feel about this as an entry point? Thanks, Andre
