Q: Could you please recommend two Canadian listed ETFs that track the Nasdaq 100 and do NOT pay a dividend. One should be hedged to the CAD, the other not. Thank you very much.

- Horizons S&P 500 Index ETF (HXS)
- Vanguard S&P 500 Index ETF (VFV)
- Horizons NASDAQ-100 Index ETF (HXQ)
Q: You recently recommended US/CA equities at 65%/35%. With US ETFs and CDRs I am only at 20% US. I am considering significantly increasing my holdings of HXS, VFV, and HXQ to make up the shortfall of 45% US. Do you see any downside to this approach?
- BMO S&P 500 Index ETF (ZSP)
- Horizons S&P 500 Index ETF (HXS)
- iShares NASDAQ 100 Index ETF (CAD-Hedged) (XQQ)
- S&P 500 ETF TRUST ETF (SPY)
- Horizons NASDAQ-100 Index ETF (HXQ)
- BMO Nasdaq 100 Equity Index ETF (ZNQ)
Q: There are a number of Canadian based NASDAQ100 and S&P500 ETF's. Which NASDAQ100 and S&P500 ETF would you prefer, or would be "best", for a TFSA account, and why? Would investing within an RRSP or in a non-registered account alter your selections and if so, why would that be? Thanks.
Q: Regarding your very quick response to my question yesterday where you stated "Capital gains are treated the same as Canadian gains, but must be converted to C$ for tax purposes." ZSP is a Canadian listed equity in Canadian dollars so I assume that I will not need to make any conversion when taking a capital gain? If I alternatively buy HXS (or HXQ) will capital gains be treated as Canadian only?
Thank you.
Thank you.

- Horizons S&P 500 Index ETF (HXS)
- Horizons NASDAQ-100 Index ETF (HXQ)
- BMO Nasdaq 100 Equity Index ETF (ZNQ)
Q: For tax efficiency in a non registered account do you recommend HXS and HXQ over ZSP and ZNQ. For US dollars do you like HXS.U and HXQ.U.
For a long term hold what are your thought of HXT in this account?
Thanks

- BMO Nasdaq 100 Equity Hedged To CAD Index ETF (ZQQ)
- INVESCO QQQ Trust (QQQ)
- Horizons NASDAQ-100 Index ETF (HXQ)
Q: Have a small position in ZQQ and an almost full in HXQ. For an RRSP which would be your choice of those 2? or another?
Q: Thoughts on the valuation of QQQ right now? It's had a nice run YTD. Is HXQ a good Canadian listed choice?
Q: Is it too early to take a starter position in the Nasdaq 100? What would be the best way to do so, avoiding currency issues and tax implications. Many thanks.
- iShares S&P Global Consumer Discretionary Index ETF (CAD-Hedged) (XCD)
- iShares U.S. High Yield Bond Index ETF (CAD-Hedged) (XHY)
- Horizons NASDAQ-100 Index ETF (HXQ)
Q: I have some cash and thinking of adding to XCD,XHY and HXQ. Would you be a buyer of all 3?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi Team,
Can you please provide your opinion on valuations and adding to positions in these two ETF's at current levels?
Which would you view as more compelling at current prices?

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you provide a couple (or more) ETF's related to the NASDAQ, with a long term horizon in mind. In particular are there any that reinvest their dividends rather than distribute them to their investors. Also what are the tax implications of reinvesting rather than distributing. Is there an ETF that covers all the listings on the the NASDAQ itself. Thanks.
Q: Hi, can I have your opinion on the best Canadian fund to follow the nasdaq. Thanks
Q: I'm considering getting some HXQ after its fall related to incipient interest rate hakes. In your view is it too early for bottom fishing the NASDAQ?
Thanks
Thanks

- BMO Nasdaq 100 Equity Index ETF (ZNQ)
Q: I notice that XQQ does not seem to have the same performance as compared to ZNQ and HXQ over the last week, month and 3 months according to Globe and Mail.
XQQ seems to track the NASDAQ or QQQ "better" .
Can you help me understand this please.

Q: The above is for a long term hold in a non registered account.
1.Please provide a break down of MER, AVERAGE TRADE VOLUME daily or monthly, Assets under management (is this the best indicator of safety)
2. Are they all tracking the nasdaq 100?
3. What are the differences between them? (I believe them to be unhedged purchased in Canadian dollars)
4. What should influence me to purchase one over another?
thanks
Ernie

Q: We have set up a RESP for our new grand daughter, we are looking to invest in a growth ETF. Considering the unsettled markets at this time would it be advised to invest in a ETF like HXQ or would you have some alternative suggestions

Q: Good morning,
I'm looking at adding a QQQ equivalent component two my Cdn$ Non Registered portfolio.
HXQ and XQQ are among the ETFs currently under consideration.
Q1. At this point in time, would you recommend a hedged or unhedged Canadian version of QQQ?
Q2. Not limiting yourself to HXQ and XQQ, what would be your recommendation for a Canadian QQQ equivalent?
Thank you
Francesco

Q: I would like to hold a NASDAQ 100 ETF long term in a non registered account.
1. is there a tax / bookkeeping advantage for holding one of the above over the other? (some websites imply that you have to keep records closely for American dollar ETFs, I believe they are referencing adjusted cost base at time of future sell.)
2. Is there an alternative to HXQ.CA that you would recommend? Or do. you think this is the best one at the present time?
3. Do any of your answers change if held in a TFSA?
4.Do any of your answers change if held in a RRSP?
Thanks

Q: Could I get your suggestions for some $CDN ETFs to invest for a toddler's RESP. I was thinking maybe a split between a tech-based ETF and a general North American-based ETF, but am open to any other ideas. There is not too much in the RESP at the moment, but it does have years to go, so growth is the main goal.
Thank-you
