Q: Hello
Could you recommend service oriented (eg going to restaurants , on vacations etc) stocks and ETFs that still have room to grow with the reopening?
Thanks

Q: Hi,
I hold the above companies in my TFSA and would like to make the portfolio more concentrated for better upside potential. If you were forced to cut three positions and add the proceeds to any of the existing holdings, which one’s would you choose? Long term growth is the only objective.
Thanks

Q: Similar question to the one I asked yesterday. This is regarding some small/medium sized consumer and consumer-related type Canadian stocks. How would you feel about holding each of these stocks in your portfolio, on a 1-10 scale, with a 10 being you definitely want the stock in your portfolio, a 1 being a stock you want no part of, and a 5 being a stock you are basically indifferent about. As part of broadly diversified portfolio, looking for total return over the next 5+ years, comfortable with risk. ACQ, AW.UN, DOO, ECN, GOOS, HTL, LNF, MTY, SIS, SVI, ZZZ.

Q: I would love to buy Booking or Live Nation but I cant pay more than they were trading at a year ago. There is still too much uncertainty. Are there any names that haven't fully recovered (and then some) that look interesting to you at this point? Thanks

Q: Trying to reduce the number of stocks I hold. Currently I am broadly diversified across sectors and large cap/small cap, growth/dividend payers, so those are not concerns. I look at total return, and have a long term horizon, 5+ years. Comfortable with risky stocks. I have smallish positions in these 12 stocks and would like to sell maybe 6 to 8 of them, and redeploy the money into a few of the others on the list or into some of my other holdings. Would you select 6 - 8 of the above that you think are less likely to perform well over 5+ years, and could be sold, and maybe 2 - 4 that could be added to. Thank you.

Q: I have about a 1% weighting in each of the following names in my portfolio: MX, PLC, BYD, MTY, ALA, NFI, TFII, GIB.A, MFC, SIS.
I want to refocus by eliminating 3 or 4 of these. Sector allocation is not a factor. Please suggest 3-4 names to eliminate (list the most obvious to eliminate first) and 2-3 good candidates to boost today (best first).

Q: Good morning 5i,

Having missed the major swap to staples. Viewing them as a buy when they are down not on momentum.
Are their any consumer stocks you see holding value still as an add for longterm hold?
We own QSR and ATD.B.
What are your better / best recommendations.

Thanks for the excellent advice.

Q: Hi folks,could U comment on Q1 results for Mty/t, period ended Feb 28/2020, so no big impact from Covid 19. Expect next 2 Q's to be affected by virus. Are there any debt/finance concerns on survival? going forward. Would U recommend as Buy,Hold,Sell at low $20's, and do you like it, or Recipe recp/t better, if one were to buy 1 for spec investment. Thanks as always, jb Piedmont QC

Q: In early March, as the markets dramatically weakened due to looming economic damage from Covid-19, I sold four smaller, lower-quality positions within my portfolio, mainly for tax-loss reasons (the proceeds represent <2% of the portfolio value), with the intention (option) to re-buy after 30 days (as my philosophy is long-term buy-and-hold). The question now, of course, is whether to re-buy any or all of the 4 positions sold (fortunately, 3 of the 4 are trading at prices substantially lower than what I sold them for). I wonder what your advice would be as to whether to re-buy any or all of these at this time:
(a) Russel Metals;
(b) Cenovus (note—I already hold Suncor as a major position, which I could add to instead);
(c) MTY Food Group (I already hold as major positions SBUX and QSR);
(d) Premium Brand Holdings.

Q: My wife and I are seniors drawing from our RRIF's and we are 'buy and hold' type of investors and need income. Your recommendations to 'harvest' capital losses is something that we have not really done previously but this suggestion is resonating with us now. If we were to do this I think we would look for 'proxy' purchases for at least the 30 day waiting period before we could repurchase the same equities if we wished.
Could you suggest some appropriate 'proxy holdings' we should be aware of for the following equities?
1. The REITs HR.UN, BPY.UN......would ZRE be a good holder?
2. EXE
3. POW
4. FM
5. MTY
6. TFII
Please use my question credits as appropriate. With thanks
