Q: Greetings 5i team,
I hold WELL and DSG in my TFSA to the tune of about 1.5% each of my overall portfolio. I am considering selling one or both and concentrating on one of three companies: WELL, DSG or GSY. If we were to ignore company size, sector, diversification and strictly look at 5 yr growth potential, would you 1. Hold one or two of these names and 2. In which order do you think has / have the most potential?
I am not averse to holdings of < 3% if I might add to them in the future.

Q: When looking at all my accounts, I am slightly overweight in DSG but I also own TOI and TIXT. Long term investment, would you reduce exposure to DSG to increase TOI and TIXT. Which one do you prefer and why? Selling a portion DSG would not trigger a capital gain since in TFSA and RRSP. Thank you.

Q: This is a follow-up to our question from last week (see: https://www.5iresearch.ca/questions/140708).

Based on your response that nothing in the list gives you much cause for concern, we would understand this to imply none of the 30 stocks would be considered a "sell" today.

Please divide the 30 stocks into a pair of ranked (best to worst) lists, one of "buys" and the other of "holds". As well, for each of the "holds" indicate the principal rationale for caution.

Q: About 1 year ago we created an equal-weighted 'balanced' portfolio of 30 Canadian companies in a non-registered account. Most were chosen from companies either covered by a 5i research report or included in a 5i model portfolio. The remainder were chosen, based on the 5i Q&A section, from what appear to be 5i sector favourites. All purchases are made with the intent to be long-term holds (10+ years). As well, we intend to increase our investments over the next 2-3 years, and then adjust over time as needed. Currently the amount invested represents ~40% of the eventual total.

Although a goal is to keep the portfolio roughly equal weighted, of the 30 companies, the following 14 were acquired in 3 purchases (full position) and currently have weights in the 2.31% (SHOP) to 5.00% (ATA) range for an average of 3.71%: CSU, MG, GSY, WSP, LNF, ATD, ATA, SLF, BAM.A, BIPC, FTS, DOO, SHOP and TFII. The remainder were acquired in 2 purchases (2/3 position) and currently have weights in the 1.98% (BEPC) to 3.17% (TCN) range for an average of 2.56%. So, overall, the weightings currently range from ~2% to ~5%.

Over the next 6 months we will invest another ~25% of the eventual total. As we make additional purchases, we need to strike a balance between keeping the weights roughly equal while taking advantage of market opportunities. Please provide some broad guidance/wisdom.

Of the 30 companies in the portfolio, which 10 would you have the highest conviction in today? Please rank them.

Are there any of the 30 that you might consider as candidates to be replaced because there are better options, and if so, what replacements would you suggest and why (disregard tax considerations)?

What additional 3 Canadian companies might you consider adding to the portfolio and why?

Q: With interest rates rising, companies with heavy debt loads may suffer somewhat.
Can you please offer 5-10 top picks with large cash balances and low debt w/best bets in each Cda and US? also which big cap sectors would you stay away from due to large debt holdings? many thanks...

Having sold my US tech before the pandemic (???) and Canadian tech 2 months ago (???) I am considering jumping into the Canadian tech space again. Would please advise me on your 3 favourites and rational for each. Potential growth and "safety" long term are key considerations. Thank you for always great direction.

Q: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.
My question is about the stock market in general, last time that these prices went down so low in march and april 2020, and then they took off again and i missed the rally because i got cold feet. So this time around i am asking is it a good entry point ex like square, nvei, gsy,dsg i already own lspd and toi for tech stocks can you give me a suggestion if i should still wait or go all in i have $33,000 room in my TFSA. We will be making a 6k contribution to each of our TFSAs in the New Year. The two accounts hold the following securities:

TFSA1: ATA, DSG, WELL and TOI
TFSA2: ATZ, BAM.A, DOO, NVEI and TOI

In what order might you invest the $ in the securities in each of the two accounts? (Given the relative size of this investment, overall diversification (across all accounts), size of holdings and industry allocation will not be affected).

Q: Please list around 5 TECH stocks that you like in US or CAD that are not 'expensive' when compared to the high fliers with little to no earnings. Please exclude the FB, GOOG, APPL, AMZN, NVDA and MSFT.

Q: I'm in the process of rebuilding my portfolio for 2022. It would be helpful if you could share with me a list of both Canadian and American companies that meet the following criteria:
1. They are some of your favourite companies from a fundamental perspective
2. They are currently buying back their own shares.
3. They offer a decent dividend.
4. They run businesses that offer good growth prospects for next year.
5. They currently offer good value.
6. These companies are so solid they would classify as 'core ' holdings.
At least six companies in each list would be appreciated.
