Q: Interested in a switch to bep.un from npi; your comments please.

Q: These stocks seem to be in a serious downtrend, in the case of NPI more than cut in half. What's going on? Interest rates aside are investors just giving up on "going green"? Or are these unbelievable bargains like the Canadian banks in 08/09?

Q: I have not been happy with NPI's performance for some time and yesterday's drop of >6% has not helped. I am now slightly in the red and looking for guidance. What caused the drop...and what is your prognosis for NPIs performance going forward? Ironically, the stock seems to be one of the few utility companies still rated as 'strong buy' by Morningstar. Given no tax consequences (in fact a small capital loss), would you be inclined to move on? And, if yes, what utility and/or energy company would you recommend that pays a dividend >3% with some growth. (SU, BEP, and BIPC already held.) Thank you.

Q: Like your opinion on NPI - realize that most alternative power companies are down & high interest rates affect them. Am a long term holder of NPI. What is your view for the next 1-3years - should I sell & look for a lower entry point or hold on?

Also, what are your forecasts for the Big 5 Cdn. Banks?

Q: I have a very positive view on renewables, and these stocks are well down today. I have all three of them.
I'm undecided between adding more BEP.UN, which I like best, and NPI, which is more deeply discounted. Morningstar has NPI at five stars.

Q: Please sort the list if you were assigned a task of bottom fishing.
Firstly sort them (best to worst) in terms of growth perspective for next 3-5 years.
Secondly sort them from fundamentals/safety perspectives.
Ignore diversification.
Also feel free to add your own favorite bottomed pick.

Q: I'd like to build on Brian's question of July 24th regarding electrification. I have
a small position in Hammond and a couple of full positions in renewable power producers.

If you wanted to build a small sub-portfolio of stocks for the green energy trend, which companies (and how many) would you include? How much of a total portfolio might you allocate in this direction? Would you include a copper producer or consider this part of your materials allocation?

One area that seems to get very little discussion is companies that make systems to control electrical grids, and I think this will need some focus as generation becomes more distributed (e.g. rooftop solar all over the place). Suggestions in this area would be especially welcome if you think there are players worth consideration.

Q: Thank you for your answer. You may not want to state a buy price or an attractive price range, but you have in a way dogged my question. If you think it is not “super attractive” at the moment, and I agree with you, that begs the question: at what price or range would you consider it attractive, super or not?

Q: Despite the debt and huge downgrade in forecasted EPS, NPI looks to be getting pretty cheap. Do you agree, and if not, what price do you believe puts it at a buy?
