Q: Please rank these CDN tech stocks for 1) growth and 2) value. Thank you.

Q: My SHOP and LSPD positions have grown to 7% and 6% of my portfolio, looking to trim the positions slightly and add to some smaller weights in my portfolio with long term high growth. How would you rank as the best to add to currently out of NVEI, FB, AMZN, VEEV, CSU, DOCU or AT? This would be for TFSA.

Also for smaller caps like WELL and XBC, would would you consider as full positions? In the 3-5% range depending on one's risk tolerance? Thanks!

Q: I have received 31 shares of Topicus from CSU. Can you give me some idea of what they are worth? I understand they will will not be available to trade until after February 1st?

Q: is topicus projected to be profitable in its first year? what percentage of shares will be owned by CSU? will topicus be debt free? on a percentage basis how will revenues be derived country by country? who will be the major competitors of topicus? thanks Richard

Q: Hi, I feel my Tech. Sector 30+% is getting too big, in case a correction is in the future.
T- 3.5 - Kxs- 5 - Lspd- 4.4 -Pho -4.3 - Real -4.1
Csu- 3.5 - Syz - 3.4 - Stc- 2.1 -Bce - 3.4%
Would you consider all these Tech. Stock? I like to keep my sector allocation to 9 or 10 sectors for simplicity ,but I do know there are sub- groups.
Would you sell any of these positions ,or trim all or some? Thinking a 18-22% sector weight, would you agree?

Q: Thanks for all your excellent work. Having recently moved to the US and opted to convert my young-ish Nova Scotia pension account to an RRSP and a LIRA, I’m looking to invest the ~100k in these accounts. Horizon: at least 5 years, but probably much more (I’m 40). Having narrowed down a tentative list of names (see below – tech-heavy, I realize), and with a focus on growth, I’m hoping to sort out the best buying strategy. Specifically: (1) At this moment, does the conventional wisdom to buy each stock gradually makes sense to you as good rule of thumb (e.g., over the course of a year, for each stock, adding a quarter of the total intended position once every few months or so)? (2) Also: I’d greatly appreciate seeing a ranked list of, say, which five of these stocks you think it would be especially wise to start with (i.e., buy now, or buy more of sooner) and which five you think I should wait to buy. I am a bit confused on CSU. I thought the share price was to drop on December 23rd on the Topicus dividend/spinout date. I don't see it and thankful. Any thoughts on why or maybe when this could happen? I now have Topicus shares in my TD account but they don't show any value yet (probably not until end of January).

Q: I am looking to put my money into 2-5 stocks/Mutual funds.
Investment Horizon is 10 Yrs, i am a high risk taker, looking for High growth.
But, I am not very active in the stockmarket, I want to put my money in 2-5 holdings and then forget about it..... and then sell them after 10-15 years.

Please suggest 2-5 stocks/Mutualfunds etc...
I friend suggested BAM, BRK.B and Mauer Mutual funds.....Please advice

Q: Hello Peter,
Constellation Software will give existing shareholders Topicus shares (based on their formula) as part of the spinoff but it does not look like Telus will be doing the same(give existing shares the international arm shares in the form of dividend).. What are the plus and minuses of what both companies are treating the spin offs? I was expecting XBC to surge slightly going to TSX as it the stock would attract more institutional buyers but looks like the stock is taking a pause.. . Well seems to be doing the same.. Any comments on this? Thanks very much.

Q: my purchase of csu stock settled jan 8. would I still receive Topicus shares?

Q: I am overweight in Tech in my TFSA account. The tech stocks I own are: CSU, DSG, KXS, QCOM, VGT. What would you sell first or would you just reduce weightings? I have done very well with CSU, DSG and QCOM but I am wondering if they have run out of steam.

My second question relates to increasing holdings in Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Communications and Health Care. Please suggest your top pick (Canadian or US) in each of the above sectors. My preference is for growth in my TFSA.

Q: It looks like CSU has paid a dividend of "topicus.com inc svs" shares - at least they've popped up in my brokerage account. Would you please fill me in on what has happened.

Q: The other day under the CSU newsfeed and story came out about the subsidiary Harris bulking up. Maybe because of Topicus I am paying more attention but: Is this a way for CSU to indicate a further potential spinout? I was thinking of selling some CSU (for reasons you suggested others were earlier today) but then again (if reasoned true) this seems an extraordinary opportunity to let them engineer further upside for the stock owner. Is this a reasonable position to take?

Q: Stock seems to be on steady daily decline last few weeks and yet, to my knowledge, no news and market doing well overall during this period.
Any info or simply profit taking?

Q: Sold some of my CSU holdings to reduce overall Tech weighting. Have very little exposure in the consumer space. What is your favorite long-term hold in consumer space right now?

Q: I am concerned about 30% of my holdings being in IT and would like to reduce perhaps by half and cover some other sectors for balance. (Just read your year-end article about predicting 2021 - perhaps you would not be concerned about 30% going forward)
What order might you trim / sell these to raise cash?
