Q: I managed to do well during this down market. I got out early and have put 83% in DOG, 15% in cash and have 2% in TSLA with and avg price of 189.

I am going to slowly start selling some DOG and deploying some cash. Can you recommend 3 to 5 stocks that I can start small positions in. I have a high risk tolerance and a time frame of 10 years or longer.

Thanks in advance.

Q: Assuming this downtrend will bottom at some point, and eventually recover, in your opinion, which three sectors offer the best chance of minimum damage in any downturn, and the best chance to recover sooner rather than later in an upturn. Could you name and rank (best first), 3 dividend stocks in each sector that you feel will survive the downturn and lead the way in recovering in each of the three sectors. Thank you. Warren

Q: Hello team,
This is a general question about metrics and about Microsoft in particular. If you back off cash and debt what is the metric for a P/E ratio with this applied and how does this comparison evaluate Microsoft and its peers. What is this metric called and how does this apply to for example CSU.

Q: First off I just want to say thank you so much for your special report you issued last week. For a young investor like myself who has never been through events like we currently are experiencing your advice has been extremely valuable to help navigate these uncharted waters.

I have been sitting on some cash and would like to increase my technology (both Canada and the US) exposure as it is low right now. I am comfortable with moderate risk. I have a few questions on this subject so feel free to subtract as many credits as you see fit:
1) For Canadian tech companies, after reading your special report and the Q&A's, it seems you like CSU, KXS, DSG, and SHOP. Would you recommend buying these individual companies (or others?) or would XIT be a reasonable alternative with these 4 companies composing ~61%? Or is there another tech etf you would suggest?
2) For US tech companies (or any US company for that matter), with the Canadian dollar being low, would you recommend looking at specific US companies or a Canadian ETF that holds US tech companies? I am worried the exchange would eat into possible returns. Do you have any recommendations (e.g. I have seen you mention XQQ for an etf, SKYY highlighted in etfupdate, and companies like MSFT, GOOG, TEAM, etc)?

Thanks for all that you do.

Q: Hello team,

Would you please mark (from 1 to 10) each of the above companies in terms of their ability to weather a recession scenario. (the lower the mark the worse the current balance sheet and inability to service debt).

Thanks a whole bunch especially in this crazy times....

Q: Currently own some Kinaxis and Shopify, both about 2 percent each.
Would like to add more tech. Close enough to retirement that need more conservative stock. Is OTEX the best option here i.e. lower risk (with some dividend and reasonable growth?)
Can you contrast the two top choices?
Thank you.

Q: An investing strategy question for a TFSA where growth is the primary concern, the investing horizon is 5+ years and I’m comfortable with risk. About 18 months ago, market turmoil resulted in me going all to cash in my TFSA. I have since returned to growth stocks and have learned to better weather the volitility that comes with them. Today I’m wrestling with the same capital preservation vs ride it out scenario as many investors. My question is what advice would you provide given my growth objectives. I’m considering selling CSU and GSY simply because I have nice profits, while keeping PHO because I’m down 30% and would rather not sell at a discount. Does this make sense or am I selling 2 winners and keeping a loser that might drop much further as the economy slows? Is selling PHO the better capital preservation move? BTW, I’m open to not selling anything in this market as you frequently advise the best move is sometimes no move. I guess I’m wondering what your thought process would be in scenarios such as this. Thank you for all of your guidance, at times like this it’s invaluable!

Q: I am interested in purchasing some stocks for my non registered US account with the primary purpose is to provide income. What would be your top 3 Canadian companies that pay their dividends in US funds and what 3 US companies would you recommend?

Q: Hello 5i team,
I've held a good number of stocks you hold in your BE portfolio and I've managed to obtain a 14% compound annual total return in the last 11 years.
100% of my portfolio is in equities; I'll be shortly 77 years old and plan to reduce my equity exposure to 30%, with the above stocks in mind.
Your opinion is most valuable

Q: I currently hold the following technology equities in my portfolio: AAPL, TEAM, CSU, and LSPD. I'm considering selling LSDP (up 14%) and purchasing either SHOP or DSG. I would like a bit less volatility and more consistent growth. Does this seem reasonable and which would you choose or do you have another idea?
Thank you for your advice.

Q: Hi, Can you name a few companies say 3 Us and 3 canadian companies who have been prolific in creating value for their shareholders either by buying back shares/not increasing their share count while growing consistently. A small dividend if applicable but leaning more towards growth in earnings. Preferably with some sort of monopoly or advantage in their field. Thank you.

Q: Hi guys, I own the following with the respective total portfolio weightings. My TFSA is all CDN and RRSP is a mix of USD/CDN. When I rebalance, should I try and rebalance with respect to % of TFSA and % of RRSP or rebalance each holding as a percent of overall portfolio? If the latter, I would consolidate some of the holdings in my TFSA to bump up the individual weightings. Are there any obvious adjustments that I should make? I’m heavy on AAPL but have sold so much of it over the years I’m very tempted to let the remaining shares ride.
Please deduct as many credits as you see fit and many thanks for the excellent service you provide. The Q/A is invaluable as are the periodic market summaries. You’ve pulled me away from the panic button many, many times.

Q: I have a 4.5-5% weighting in all of these and they represent my tech holdings. Any need in your opinion to sell any of them in light of world news? Might LSPD as an example feel the impact of fewer restaurant goers? Would you sell any of these based on fundamentals to replace with something you prefer more?

Q: Due to fortunate timing following some great advice (thanks 5I!!) combined with the recent market surge, we find ourselves overweight in Tech. With relatively equal weighting, which of these 7 companies (if any) would you consider selling? In what order?
