Canada’s much slower economic growth relative to the U.S. seems to be related namely mortgage debt, Given this situation, can you suggest 1) Individual U.S. stocks for capital gain 2) Individual U.S. stocks that pay dividends, and 3) U.S. ETFs? Q: Hi 5i, 95% of my rrsp account are in the above stocks , recently I trimmed technology to add BNS TFII QSR BN VFV , before it was very-highly tech oriented, now I'm looking to preserve capital and get a bit of dividends, Am I in the right track, looking to start withdrawing in the next 2 years, they all are between 8 to 12% of portfolio. Q: Hello,
I recently mentioned taking a position in MDLZ for part of my international holdings, not realizing MDLZ is actually US-based. Knowing you don't follow international stocks, are you generally aware of other internationally-based consumer defensive companies listed on a major US stock exchange? I looked at Nestle, but it seems to be only buyable OTC, and I am not too keen on that market. Another thought was DEO, do you see any red flags with it?

COST (good growth, very small dividend)
WMT (good growth, small dividend)
AMZN (Good growth, No dividend)
KVUE (good products, good dividend, not as much growth)

Please review them, rank them in order of preference for a long term hold. If you have a better alternative, please include it.

Please deduct 5 credits, 1 for each company and 1 for the other possibility.

Q: when you look at 3M on fundamental, and valuation score high, and the dividend look very attractive at 6.36%, how do i need to be worry about lawsuits again 3M for the used of PFAS?

Q: I am looking for a couple of US dividend-paying companies that provide decent yields for retirement income. Several of the companies that you have suggested are providing growing dividends and some equity growth but the yields are low. I am currently looking at AMGN, BX and EXR. I am leaning towards BX as I think property could be poised for growth but I am concerned that the dividend seems to jump around. Were special dividends paid in the past few years or has the payout been negatively affected by declining rental income?

Which of the three would you prefer given the desire for increased income, stability of income, future dividend growth and some equity growth? (or are there other suggestion you may have)

Q: I did reorganise my portfolios in 2022 for a majority of diversified dividend ETFs and a minority of selected excellent dividend stocks.This strategy was satisfactory ,and I shall not sell this content in 2023.My strategy in 2023 will consider the possibility of a bear market,I shall only " add-on" some stocks on weakness .Could you list 10 canadian+10 us stocks ( not ETFs), among the safest in a bear market in your opinion,including 7 dividend stocks+3 growth stocks for each list,and rank them for safety if possible,many thanks,JY
