Q: I read the article by Larry Swedroe of Morningstar about Warren Buffets investing methods from this weekend's 5i suggested reading and was intrigued by the strong intangible moat that is used to describe some of the companies he invested in, can you suggest a couple of companies you feel reflect this currently. Q: Two part question here. I am trying to add PEG ratio to my thinking about stocks. It seems like a useful metric that combines growth with value. But I don't see it listed frequently enough for Canadian equities. I presume you work with trailing P/E and divide it by growth rather than forward P/E. Is that correct? I also realize I should be looking out for oddities in trailing P/E that shift it one way or another. Anything else I should be looking for? Second, I look at GOOG and it reads well at both a very reasonable forward P/E and PEG under 1. Are there other stocks you see with that combination? Thank-you.

Q: I have decided to orientate my portfolio more towards the US, while keeping approximately 30% Canadian. I am also looking at India for my first international investment. Most of these stocks are asset light and large cap.
In the US the sectors are non bank financials, tech, and industrials. In Canada I have chosen large caps with significant non Canada revenue.
My dividend income would decrease but I can handle that. This would be an equal weight portfolio.

What do you think of this approach and of the individual stocks?
Should I just buy an SPY 500 etf for the US ?
Is FFH appropriate for India or is there an ETF you would recommend ?

Q: Ignoring any crypto implications (I am decently invested in that area), do you think liberalizing the financial regulations in the US is likely to produce outsized short to medium term gains in that sector? If so, can you recommend a couple of solid names, a couple of speculative names and a couple of ETFs. Thanks again for the great service.

Q: Looking at these long term compounders in various sectors. Based on current valuation and future growth, how would you rank these and which ones would you buy now or DCA into over time?

I'm already holding full positions in BKNG, BN, CSU, LMN, half positions in V,MA,WSP, and smaller position in TRI. I would either add to my smaller positions or add new positions in the others.

Are there any other 2-3 long term compounders that you would consider good buys currently?

Q: Hi. My wife and I are in the process of rebalancing our portfolio. We're in our 70s and our portfolio has treated us well. Unfortunately our winners have grown to create a portfolio that is now 70% tech and 30% cash.

We'd like to bring our Nvidia and Apple holdings from just over 20% for each to around 10 or 12%.

Where would you reinvest the proceeds of the sale outside of the tech sector?
What 5 top US companies and 5 Canadian companies would be your favourites and why?

Q: My focus is on financial alternative investments. We have positions in BN KKR IBKR [thanks], and are considering adding stocks from indexes/ratings [MSCI/SPGI], other exchanges, asset managers. Q: Hi Everyone at 5i!!
I have hit the breakeven point with ICE and am thinking of selling it and buying another more growthy US holding. This is in my TFSA. I was thinking of adding it to my Microsoft. shares. I have Nvida already. Could you suggest any other US stocks? Would you consider keeping ICE??

Q: Wow, wild ride lately. I'm looking for some solid companies to tame things down in my portfolio. I would greatly appreciate it if you could recommend some companies that fit the following requirements:
1. Are reasonably valued.
2. Have a solid business model that have protective moats that shied them from competitive threats.
3. Generate strong cashflow and earnings even in a higher interest rate environment.
I'm interested in both Canadian and American companies. Thanks, as always for your support.
