Q: The market keeps going up with high valuations for many stocks. What are your current top 5 Canadian and 5 US stocks with high convictions, good valuation and growth for the next 3 to 5 yeas in TFSA account. Q: I have decided to orientate my portfolio more towards the US, while keeping approximately 30% Canadian. I am also looking at India for my first international investment. Most of these stocks are asset light and large cap.
In the US the sectors are non bank financials, tech, and industrials. In Canada I have chosen large caps with significant non Canada revenue.
My dividend income would decrease but I can handle that. This would be an equal weight portfolio.

What do you think of this approach and of the individual stocks?
Should I just buy an SPY 500 etf for the US ?
Is FFH appropriate for India or is there an ETF you would recommend ?

Q: I am thinking of adding/increasing my position in an insurance company and have found that the combined ratio for both MFC and SLF are more than 100 while CB and TSU’s combined ratio is in the low 80. Does that mean MFC and SLF are not as profitable as CB and TSU? Which is a good buy currently? Thanks,

Q: I have owned IFC for a while; its share price has gained nicely in the last 12 months or so but I am concerned it is becoming a bit richly value and am considering a switch to CB. Q: Hello 5i Team

I am reviewing US listed Property and Casualty Insurance companies for the US dollar portion of my RRSP account (in order to receive dividends without US withholding tax).

I understand Brookfield Reinsurance Ltd (BNRE) is a Bermuda based corporation and is not subject to withholding taxes in an RRSP.

Questions:

1 – Is BNRE a suitable candidate?

2 – Please list other US listed P&C insurance companies for consideration in order of preference.

Q: 5 eyes - why is the bid 10% less than the ask on this US insurer? If I want to sell shares (I don't actually) then do I take a 10% haircut?
