Q: I have held STN for almost 10 years and it has recently showed some good growth. I am considering selling STN and purchasing WSP. Which company do you expect to perform better in the next 5 to 10 years and why?

Investment Q&A
Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: Do you have an updated perspective on STN metrics today? It's buying another firm I believe.
Q: Hi 5i
With the US Congress passing the $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure bill last Friday evening, what sectors and Canadian stocks would you suggest might benefit the most going forward. Thanks

Q: Your take on Stantec's purchase of assets from Cardno and what this means for the company. Given the large runup in the stock price today after the announcement would you invest in STN any time soon or wait for it to settle down? I already have a full position in WSP. Would it be better to just put more into that?
Q: Looking at these two, only want to buy one of them. Which do you think will perform better over the next 5 years?

Or after the 3rd quarter results?
Thank you for your excellent service.

Q: I currently own STN and have a 45% paper gain. Do you see value in selling STN now and moving to WSP. I bought STN because i like their water management business and they we undervalued at the time.
Thanks

Q: How significant would it be for the Canadian lumber companies if the US removed the tariffs on lumber? Which stock would you recommend in such a scenario.
Q: Stantec missed revenue projections and the stock is being pummeled. Would you hold or do you consider this stock likely dead money for some time now?
Q: you had a very complementary view on CCS on March 15th...
do you have another construction firm you would prefer over CCS??

Q: Is there a Canadian Co. that might benefit from the proposed Infrastructure spending that U.S
President Biden is planning for the U.S.? Would this Co. have to be listed on both the Canadian & U.S. Exchanges? I want a stock that qualifies for the Canadian DTC. I find BIP.UN & BIPC a bit baffling. Last March, BIPC was created & I thought it was supposed to mirror BIP.UN but as of last Friday there was a $20 difference between the price of the two stocks. When I look into BIPC which I would prefer because of the DTC, most of its holdings are in Brazil & the U.K.
Thank you: Jerry

Q: I've held Stantec for 5 years and have had satisfactory performance at best. Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had purchased WSP Global instead or just swapped them in the past few years (based on your recommendation of WSP Global). Given the current valuations and performances of these businesses, do you think a move out of Stantec and into WSP Global in my TFSA at this time would make sense?
Q: I'm looking for long-term hold (>10 year) Canadian engineering firm with significant international operations. Would you prefer Stantec (STN) versus WSP Global (WSP), or another? What would be the main reasons for your stated preference?

Q: It appears that in post Covid times, infrastructure money will be doled out to get the economy rolling again. It may be time to sell some tech or at least trim. I am currently over 40% in tech. It’s been great but I realize more diversification is important.
I know that you’ll recommend BAD and likely STN but what else may be on the horizon to consider? Thanks
Dennis

Would you add to BNS or SLF or add one of the ones I am looking at? Long term view 20 years.
Thanks, Paul

Q: The price of Stantec has improved significantly recently, finally moving above the high of ~ $37 hit way back in October of 2017.
What do you feel has changed? Also, do you think their prospects look better than 6 months ago? 'The markets' seem to like something!
I see their 3 year strategic plan is here:

Q: Hi, Over past 2 weeks markets have seen a rotation from Technology sector and the Stay Home stocks ( like Netflix, Shopify, Alphabet and others) into Cyclical sectors (Banks and Industrials). Airlines, Cruiselines and Gaming/Entertainment ( like WYN etc ) stocks have also shot up recently. This sector rotation seems to be based on belief that with economy reopening ( and Federal Reserve with an endless supply of money/support), recovery may be much faster and stronger.
With this noticeable shift in market positioning, we would like to participate and hope to benefit in near as well long term. We have 15% weight in Canadian Banks. But among Industrials, only companies owned by us are CNR, RPI.un and BYD. We also started a small position in AC and Boeing, on Friday, with intentions to build over time.
We are looking for companies in this sector with strong fundamentals which are trading at a discount to their historical levels, for COVID related factors and depressed market sentiment. Could you please recommend a few names in Canada and US. Thank You
