Q: I have narrowed down 4 choices of Industrials to add to my portfolio: DRX, HMM.A, HPS.A and BYD. The reason is they are all currently under valued compared to fair value according to Morningstar.
Please rate these 4 in descending order of confidence. Preference is growth in the next 3-5 years. And also please include suggested entry price. Thank you very much.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

We need to raise some cash in our non-registered account. Please rank in order of which stock/ETF to sell a partial position first: BYD, CNR, IHI, and TRI . All four of these holdings have done very well, thanks to the continued good recommendations from 5i.

Q: My industrial portfolio currently has a light exposure to the industrial sector. I’d like to diversify by adding some industrial stocks in the US and Canada. Additionally, in the consumer sector, I already hold ATD, TOY, PBH, ULTA, and COST. To further enhance my consumer holdings, could you recommend several consumer stocks in the US and one or two in Canada? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Q: Does BYD represent a good entry point here? Can you help me consider this investment thesis.

El Nino Year as a Tailwind: El Nino’s warmer weather created short-term challenges for Boyd in 2024, its effect might be temporary. If weather patterns stabilize, the demand for collision repairs could return to normal levels, providing a more favorable environment for achieving growth targets.

Interest Rates as a Tailwind: High interest rates making new car purchases less attractive is indeed a potential tailwind. If consumers opt to repair rather than replace their vehicles due to economic conditions, Boyd stands to benefit. This trend supports the long-term demand for Boyd’s services.

Boyd has a stated goal to double the size of the business based on 2019 sales by 2025. Considering Boyd’s historical performance, strategic initiatives, and the potential tailwinds from economic conditions, is it still reasonable to be optimistic about Boyd’s ability to double its business by 2025.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,

I've been a long term holder of Boyd Group. Great recommendation by the 5i team!

Do you have any idea what went on at the end of 2023 that led to a number of Directors ceasing to be insiders to the company and their insider ownership subsequently being sold off or not visible on insider reports?

Next question: This seems like it should be a steady long term business with ability to grow and maintain strong earnings given the expensive and technologically advanced direction car manufactures are taking. Am I missing something in my outlook?

Q: Hi, Boyd Group stock has been declining after its recent earnings. The company is one of the favourites with 5i. Do you believe that the issues highlighted by the management in the last earnings report are transitory and company's long term growth profile is intact ? If so, would you start a new position at current levels and at what price stock would be Extremely Attractive ? Thank You

Q: We have a well-diversified Canadian portfolio (~30 holdings) focused slightly toward growth that is overweight in the Consumer Cyclical sector. Our current holdings, in approximately equal weights, are DOO, LNF, MG, BYD, PLC, ATZ. We are considering either reducing our holdings by one or a group trimming. Which would you prefer and why? For long term holds, how would you rate (1-10) these 6?
