Q: I have owned the GOOG class "C" shares for many years and it trades with a minor discount to the class A GOOGL shares. On Market Call today the guest indicated "you should always buy the GOOGL shares. What is your opinion and if you agree should I sell to then acquire the GOOGL shares? That said, is this a reasonable time to bring this from a 3.4% weighting up to a 5%? Appreciate your insight.

Q: Hi,
I currently don't hold any tech. With the drop last week almost sector wide would you think this is a good entry point? I'm long term (at least 3-5 years), fairly comfortable with risk. What would you recommend? Any drips available will be utilized as well.

THanks!

Q: Good morning gentlemen,

I have fairly large gains in the fang stocks as well as with Apple. With the Nasdaq taking its second consecutive beat down today, Would you be inclined to take profits. With Apple being down close to 8 percent in two days ( due to downgrades, ostensibly), in your experience. Does a stock like this rebound the following day? Also, do you think the sector shift away from tech could be an enduring trend?

All of the aforementioned positions are at 5-6 percent holdings.

What I'm getting down to is : sell today, or wait for a rebound ? I understand the former involves a degree of market timing, but surely with your many years in the industry, you must have some flair for such events.

With much appreciation,
Karim Rahim

Q: HELP, I am a confused investor trying to sort out the world of Technology stocks. What I would like is a meaningful way to categorize technology companies, particularly US tech. co's. For example:
PFPT is a security provider.
TSM and AVGO are semiconductor co's.
NVDA does graphics
IBM is an IT co.
5iR Team help.....could you breakdown internet tech into some subcategories and perhaps give me a US stock name for each that would allow me to do some research. In other words I see the forest but help me name the trees.
Thanks team. Chris

Q: Hi 5i Team - Given the speed of change in the digital world and google being a big part of it now and likely in the future would you buy in now or wait for a dip and do you think one in this sector will happen within the next couple of years? If you like another company better than GOOG what is it? Thx!

Q: Further to a member's question concerning the high cost of board-lot purchases of (for example) GOOG: I have never had any problems buying (or selling) as little as a few shares of GOOG, CSU, etc. The only oddity I've noticed is that my bid (or ask) doesn't show up on the exchange's order book, which might have the effect of providing no reference price for the other side of the trade. But others' brokers may handle these differently (I'm using TDW.)

Q: For US tech I own NVDA,BIDU, FB and GOOG. BIDU has been underperforming and I am wondering about your opinion of it from a growth perspective. I am considering selling it and adding to the others.

Q: Hi Peter et al
I’m overweight in the technology sector due to significant growth (20% of portfolio) and am thinking of trimming. I currently have ENGH, CSU, AAPL, NVDA and GOOG in fairly equal weighting. I’m not sure whether to sell one of these outright, or just trim one or two back. I’d appreciate your thoughts. With the proceeds, I am considering adding CGNX to my Industrials, which currently includes SIS, WSP and NFI. Do you think CGNX would be a good addition, or can you suggest another CDN or U.S. stock to add in this sector? Thanks so much!
