Q: Portfolio Analytics indicates I am over allocated and perhaps over diversified in Financials: BAM.A 2%, BNS 2%, TD 4%, X 2%, BRK.B 4%, MA 6% and Industrials: CCL.B 1%, CNR 4%, NFI 1%, FDX 3%, HON 3%, LMT 6%.
Which positions would you recommend trimming or eliminating?

Q: I am thinking of selling these three companies currently held in a growth portfolio to make way for some higher growth tech names. I do have the cash in my RRSP and could buy these stocks back in that portfolio but wonder if you have any better suggestions? I am particularly worried about CCL.B it has not held up to expectations.

Q: My Canadian dividend portfolio lacks exposure to materials. I currently hold CCL.B and was considering adding one position in SJ, NTR, or BOS. My goal is owning a good business at a sound valuation with prospects of dividend growth for at a long term. I consider the companies the best in the Canadian universer of stocks when it comes to materials. I am leaning towards NTR, but I am hesitant because I try not to invest in businesses that are very sensitive to commodities prices. Can you comment on these companies, their management, risks, and outlook? What do you think is the best option among the three?

Q: I have held ccl.b and nfi for a number of years and done well, although the last few years have been disappointing. I have just sold my positions in these two companies and am considering cae and tfii as replacements. Your thoughts?
Does Cae’s recent decision to lay people off and cancel its dividend raise concerns or reaffirm its strong management and strengthen its eventual recovery?
Is tfii’s balance sheet strong enough to get through this crisis and given the need to deliver inventory by trucks provide rational for strength during the short term as well as once recovery takes hold?
I have a diversified portfolio which is fairly well balanced by sector and reflects your balanced and income portfolios with a smattering of stocks from your growth portfolio.

Q: Hi 5i - Im looking at adding top quaity companies at "fire sale" prices. Do you see these 2 companies much higher 5-10 years from now? If not these 2, which companies from your balanced portfolio look most attractive right now? Thanks, Neil

Q: I have CCL.B in a few of my portfolios; do you think its time to sell and replace? I allocate 50% of CCL.B to Consumer Staples and 50% to Materials. Right now CAE is the only Material security that interests me, are there others that you would recommend, I don't want MX. I have PBH and ATD.B in Consumer Staples and could add to either of these or are there others that I should consider. I'm a buy and hold type of investor; with a growth focus.

Q: I follow your balanced portfolio and have taken opportunities in the past to harvest a tax loss and replace with another company in the same sector. I have losses in CCL.B and MX. Considering NTR in the same sector. Does this seem reasonable or is there another non gold company you would recommend. If so CCL and MX are each currently a 2% position. Would you sell both and buy a 4% NTR position or just sell one. If so which one?

Q: Another question about CCL. I've been a long time holder but only at a half position. I've been holding off adding as the share price has not done a whole lot for the last 3 years, even prior to the big drop last week. I've been waiting for signs of a breakout and it looks like i got it - although in the wrong direction! To be honest the earnings report did not inspire confidence with negative organic growth. And I believe the previous quarter before this one was fairly uninspiring as well. So with a lot of good companies out there that are executing well and in good/growing markets what would be the rationale for still holing on to CCL? Seems it will be dead money at best for the next little while.

Q: Hi,
I am wondering what to do with CCL.B now that it has fallen quite dramatically. I trimmed an oversized position last August, leaving a normal weighting for the holding. With the decline I am now underweight. My question is should I top it up to bring it back to a normal weight, sell it since it is a small holding, or do nothing and live with the underweight position (it is my smallest holding at around 2% of equities).
Thank you, Michael

Q: The stock is down about 13% after the release of their quarterly results
- overreaction or about right? Is M&A activity the only thing that will move this stock or is there some other catalyst(s)? While the longer-term dividend growth has been nice would you expect an upswing in the next two years? I have held this a long time but wondering if its best days are behind it.

Appreciate your insight.

Paul F.

Q: Your opinions on CCL.B please. The quarter looked weak and CCL has contributed little to my portfolio over the last few years although I am sitting on a sizeable-gain in both my TFSA and RRSP accounts. Your recommendation going forward please and suggestion on a company with more growth regardless of sector.
Thank you
