Q: Hi. I've built positions across the digital asset and payments ecosystem that I'd appreciate your perspective on. My current holdings include: direct Bitcoin ownership (DCA monthly for store of value), FETH (smart contract infrastructure exposure), GLXY (institutional crypto services plus AI compute optionality), and PYPL (established fintech playing multiple angles; PYUSD stablecoin, BNPL, crypto trading, traditional payments, and I use PYPL quite a lot myself). I do also own JPM.

I'm considering adding CRCL but struggling with the valuation at 79x forward earnings (although it is 31x 2 years forward). My thesis is that I already capture stablecoin growth multiple ways; FETH captures a lot of stablecoin volume, GLXY services institutional stablecoin users, and PYPL's PYUSD gives me direct issuer exposure with less regulatory risk since they have diversified revenue streams.

CRCL feels like paying growth multiples for what I think might become a "utility-like" business earning regulated fees. Also, if stablecoins become critical infrastructure the regulatory hammer could fall hardest on pure-play issuers like Circle versus diversified players.

I think my current portfolio seems to cover the bases; Bitcoin for macro crypto adoption, Ethereum for DeFi/Web3 infrastructure, GLXY for the picks-and-shovels institutional play, and PYPL for the mainstream fintech integration angle (+ maybe JPM).

Am I missing something by passing on CRCL? I'm interested your thoughts on whether CRCL offers unique exposure I'm not getting elsewhere? Or if there is something I am overlooking?

Q: Hello 5i,

We are perplexed on which payment stocks to purchase. FOUR seems to be somewhat of a disappointment so far, though many have fallen from grace this year and a path to digital payments through crypto looks promising though we are not sure how this will shake out.

Can you comment on the best way to capitalize on stocks in this sector and rank the top 3 payment stocks (in order please) to hold for 5 years or longer.

Thank you

Q: Hi 5i team,

In "Summer Investment Wisdom: Five Mistakes to Avoid" by Peter, it is stated, "If a stock declines while fundamentals are improving, it is usually worth buying." Do you think PayPal and Adobe fit the bill?

Best,
Matt

Q: Given the potential for a market down-turn, do you see any of these as a good buy for a long-term investment?

Q: Could you please give me your thoughts on PayPal? I know you have said before you prefer other names in the space. PayPal reported earnings last week and revenue is still falling. Unbranded TPV is really dropping. But growth in branded experiences and Venmo are accelerating. Management is trying hard and am wondering if I should give them a few more quarters. Thanks.

Q: Happy New Year to 5i and members, wishing all a prosperous investing year ahead.

It's time to make my annual TFSA contribution. I own AAPL, ADBE CRM, GOOG, NVDA, PYPL, QCOM, and TOL in my TFSA.

I would like to add to one position, which do you recommend? I am overweight NVDA so do not wish to add to that one.

Does 5i consider any of these positions in the 'do not need to own' category? If so, please recommend a replacement (not LLY, MDT, IBM, or MSFT; I own full positions of these in another account). The focus of this account is US equities with a risk profile somewhere between that of the 5i Balanced and Growth portfolios, and the objective is long-term capital appreciation.

Thank you very much.

Q: Hello 5i,

We are in sync with the theory that hardware stocks will slow down and software will be the next phase. Which stocks from this group would you purchase today if not owned. We will assume that those not mentioned may be purchased on a pull-back. Of the list, are there any stocks that you would swap out for another stock?

WMT, NVDA, VRT, FTNT, GDDY, EVLV, SPT, UEC, FFIV, PYPL, SYM, BMY, LLY, APPF, ARM, MNDY, ORCL

Thank you for your help.

Q: I own RDFN, PYPL, and OKTA. All are down for me. In what order would you sell to take the capital loss? Do you see much growth potential over the next year in any of them? Thanks.

Q: My holding of Paypal is at about -40%. I’ve had it since 2020. At this point, would you recommend disposing it and add to other Fintech names ex: Google, MA, Meli?

Looking at the charts of PayPal vs MA vs Google vs Meli, I cannot help but regretting buying into PayPal. And it looks like PayPal is currently having nothing going for it.

Q: Hi 5i Team,

I'm trying to clean up my US Portfolio so that I'm at 20-25 equities total. Please advise which 20-25 companies you would keep for a 5-10+ hold with balance/diversification but also some growth in mind.

Q: HI folks
Sadly, I am down on all of these somewhere between 60 to 95%!!! They mostly but not all started out as somewhat small positions 2 to 4 years ago! I have time to wait longer but: 1)are there any that are absolute failures and therefore should be sold. 2) Would you please rate the selIs from 1 to 10 ..10 being the absolute SELL. 3)How many years should I give these? (tough to answer but just a guess). I will not get much at all for any of them! Please take as many credits as you see fit.
Much Thanks and happy Family weekend
