Q: I am learning to use portfolio analytics (PA). PA provides some guidance that makes a lot of sense from a tax efficient perspective. For example, it recommends to place Canadian dividend payers in unregistered accounts and Canadian and US growth funds into TFSAs. Are there any downfalls to not having each account diversified?

Q: Thanks for all you do do us little guys and gals. I would be interested if you know of a good ETF for income with a 5% + dividend with significant US exposure BUT bought in CAD$? If not any US company stocks with a 5%+ dividend that I can buy on the TSX? Thanks again. Dan

Q: Hi Peter, I'm looking at the WELL.TO chart and see that three times over the past half year there has been a dramatic spike in share price followed by an immediate and equally dramatic sell-off taking the stock lower than the pre-spike level. I know you don't have a crystal ball but you do have a lot of experience with Canadian small/micro caps and was wondering how you interpret this price action. Is it people who lost on the stock and are waiting to recoup some of there losses?

Do you still consider this a undervalued small cap stock? Technically, it is a basket case.

Q: I read in CNN today that in India, "UPI (Gov't entity) allows users to use their phone as a virtual debit card, transferring money from almost 600 member banks and fintech companies instantly without entering bank details or paying transaction fees."

1) Can you think of any stocks which would benefit from this?
2) If this is happening in India, when will Canada wake up? Do you see this coming?

Q: I have been holding Well for a while now and while dissapointed in the share price I am not dissapointed with the financial results. Allways they could be better but I felt the company is moving in the right direction. I'm struggling with "market sentiment" and how to include this in my investment decisions.
It feels like if I could get a handle on this I could get in front of a stocks ups and downs and adjust my position accordingly.
I'm not expecting a definitive answere but just some advice how to value and navigate "market sentiment." Thanks John

Q: Hello,

General best practice question here on portfolio diversification based on a question asked many years ago.

1. If you were starting fresh with an equity portfolio, how many names would you choose and would they all be equal weight by name? Within that number, would you have a recommendation investing in a set number of ETF's?

2. Would you recommend adding stocks across each of the 10-14 sectors (or prioritize specific ones) and apply the same weight?

3. In terms of tax benefits, would you tend to hold US stock in a TFSA or RRSP? I seem to read conflicting views.

Q: I see that todays news of a huge contract to supply Microsoft has given some life to the share price. But the share price is still quite low compared to a year or two ago. I am having trouble judging how much value the contract adds I would think a contract of this size will quickly give a much stronger boost to the stock, even though some of the contract is a few years away.. How much value does it add, in your opinion? Is the share price too low now? i already have a full position, but I'm thinking of adding more
