Q: These 4 'blue chip' stocks (BCE, TRP, ENB, BNS) pay healthy dividends, but basically are trading where they were 10 years ago. If you were to look out 5 years, how would you rank them best to worst, in terms of how much their share price will increase from today....Thanks...Glenn
Q: Wanting to sell one of these to deploy cash to deploy elsewhere. Which of these two has the best pathway forward for a 2 to 3 year hold and which might you recommend to sell and why? Thank you.
Q: I hold positions in these three banks. What entry points would you be comfortable adding to these names?
Thanks
Tim

Q: Which Canadian bank has been the worse performer in the last cycle?

- Royal Bank of Canada (RY)
- Toronto-Dominion Bank (The) (TD)
- Bank of Nova Scotia (The) (BNS)
- Bank of Montreal (BMO)
Q: We have well-diversified Canadian portfolio (~30 holdings) focused slightly toward growth. Across our various accounts we are overweight in the Financial Services sector. We are considering reducing our holdings in the traditional banks, which are currently roughly equal amounts of TD, BNS, BMO and RY.
Putting aside potential taxation issues, given the choice between reducing all the banks by roughly the same amount or reducing the number of banks to 2 or 3, which would you prefer and why? If it's the latter, which banks would you keep and in what order?
Thanks,
Peter.

Q: I guess this is really a basic tax loss question. I wish to sell BNS in my non registered account which is mainly full of large dividend paying companies. Does it make sense to sell GSY ( at a profit ) , sell BNS ( at a loss ) and then rebuy GSY , thus taking advantage of tax loss provisions. It will also give me the advantage of a higher cost price for GSY for the inevitable sale. Should I do this procedure with the stock that has the most comparable gain to my BNS loss ?
Thanks. Derek.
Thanks. Derek.

Q: Hello Peter and 5i team,
My TFSA contains the aforementioned stocks in roughly even percentages except for nominal investments in Park Lawn and DRX. I would like to make my annual contribution to one or some of these companies and would like to know what your order of preference would be for buys/adds at this time. Please also include Celestica in your considerations.
Also, are there any companies in this list that you would consider undervalued at this time?
Thank you.

Q: Hello 5I,
Just wondering if there are many stocks out there right now that are dividend growers and have a yield of 6% plus? and do you like any other them as picks longer term?
Thanks

Q: hi,
I hold all these, several fro many years. they are all in the red. many are (former) stalwart blue chip dividend plays. I am basically comfortable holding them, and I do expect a good rebound in prices when rates start to fall. 1) am I missing something? are there any in the list that you think the dividend may be in jeopardy, or you see no runway for growth ( small or large). 2) are there any in the list you would be comfortable adding to ( which is what I am wanting to do)?
cheers, Chris

Q: What are your five current favorite stocks for short-term (1 year) gains? They can be either US or Canadian stocks. Thanks,
Q: I recently sold BNS to harvest a capital loss with intention of repurchasing it after 30 days. In the meantime, I purchased ZEB while the 30 period passes. Is ZEB considered a "similar" security and therefore, I am unable to claim this loss?

Q: I'm a retired somewhat conservative investor content with slow steady growth and a dividend helps as well. I have been happy with my diversified portfolio but constantly struggle with should I or should I not make these changes;
1. Sell T (non-registered account, tax loss) buy BCE?
2. Sell AAPL (in an RRSP) and buy NVDA?
3. Sell TD (non-registered account, tax loss) and buy BNS?
4. Sell ATZ and or DOO (both in a TFSA) and buy what?
Thank you

Q: In your opinion, is it worth holding on to AQN for the potential benefits of it's renewable business sale/split (and whatever other news follows), or sell now and invest in to companies with more proven management and stability e.g. I'd be putting the proceeds mainly in to BNS and TD.
Q: BNS has been a big disappointment for many years. With every year that passes, I say to myself to be patient and give it more time. The new CEO needs time, the acquisitions need time, the valuation is attractive, reversion to the mean is a powerful force, 5i really likes it etc etc. Yet each year, there is no improvement.
I just looked at TD's EPS Consensus Expectations for 2024, and they are less than 2023! Earnings for 2023 were poor, and considerable lower than 2022 and 2021.
Please tell me why I should continue holding on.
Thanks
