Q: Hello,

I have roughly $75,000 to invest. I am looking for US base stocks with upside. I have a pretty balanced portfolio so am looking for growth type names or ones with upside. This year i purchased amazon, netflix, disney, and nvidia so please recommend 4-5 of your best ideas other then those ones.

Thanks

Q: Hi there, I’m a big fan of the Balanced Equity portfolio. If you had to create a US Balanced Equity Portfolio using CDRs, what stocks would you purchase to create such a portfolio?

Q: My portfolio analytics is showing that I'm a bit low in my communication services sector.

Beyond the obvious telecom companies, what are some of the less obvious companies or perhaps ETFs that would fit into this sector?

Also, including the telecoms, could you rank your top few Canadian and US buys for this sector.

Thanks as always.

Q: These large behemoths have been decimated in varying degrees. Would you please rank them and would you buy now for a long hold on what seems like a huge sale on quality leaders? Thanks.

Q: Hello 5i Team,

I'm down considerably in these US stocks in a taxable account: APPS, DIS, DXCM, EXPI, FB, NET, NFLX, U, and UPST.

I would like to crystallize some losses.

Could you please suggest:

1. The stocks I should sell outright (and suggest a replacement);

2. The stocks I should sell and then re-buy in 30 days (and suggest a proxy); and

3. The stocks I should continue to hold.

Feel free to subtract as many credits as required.

Thank you for your valuable advice!

Q: Hello Peter,

Your thought on adding one of the above names to my portfolio. I hold a bit of WBD from the AT&T spin-off and is ready to trade it with another stronger performer. Thank you!

Q: I read your answer to a question regarding tax loss selling where you said that you were "endorsing tax-loss harvesting right now". I've taken some profits and have the following stocks that are down and can utilize: AMZN, VISA, DIS, TFII and GSY - can you recommend which ones I should sell and if you would be okay buying them back after the 30 days?

Q: I have these three stocks in my margin account currently at a loss. When does it make sense to realize the loss for tax loss selling and buy another proxy. I know most of tax loss selling usually happens later in the year, but does it ever make sense to do it earlier in the year if the stock is down? What would be good proxies for EGLX, DIS and APPS? Thanks!

Q: Dear 5i team.

I'm trying to understand the impact of the recent fight between Disney and the State of Florida. What would you estimate the impact to be if Florida strips Disney of their special status to govern themselves. To be honest, I'm not sure if this will have any impact as it may be a zero sum game if the surrounding municipalities collect a tax to provide the services Disney does and pays for itself now? Is that too simplistic?

Appreciate your opinions.

Q: Given the recent political actions taken by Disney is it time to sell? Management may be losing its focus by getting into politics when it should be focused on its business. Florida is considering removing Disney’s special status. The growing backlash and coverage on some networks could impact customer support and business. There are increasingly calls for a boycott. There is a potential that new CEO does not last with increasing scrutiny. Not sure how much this could negatively impact the share price short term and long term and if it’s time to step away and wait until the dust settles. Thoughts?

Q: Questions about Disney appear fairly regularly. The answers in the last few months remain fairly positive, but I thought to check in on your current thoughts.

I can't understand the P/E, your company report shows it at 81.9. Can you verify that and offer any suggestion why it is so high?

I wonder about some potential headwinds, including continued Covid (less travel); a recession (less holiday spending); inflation (price hikes for their theme parks + cruises); recent labour / political issues (Florida); being ahead of their sales. And who knows what else?

I am down a fair bit after buying 8 months ago and am getting impatient. I am thinking of selling my position in DIS and moving to TT, one of your long time favourites. If it were you, would you make this move or hang on to DIS. And why, either way.

Thanks much for your excellent service.
