Q: Since XBC is still halted what happens with one's ability to claim a capital loss. Is that still possible or does it have to be publicly sold to claim the loss? Any idea if it will ever trade again?
Q: Hi Team,
This is more of a general/ speculative question on Go Easy. What do you see as the "end game", or ultimate goal of this company? Do you see them as continuing to keep growing the company, as they been doing indefinitely. Expanding into the US possibly? Or do you see them being acquired by a larger entity eventually? Right now, their market cap is still only showing 1.6 billion. Pretty small relatively speaking in the banking world. What potential do you see them having over the next say 10-15yrs? 5,10,20-billion-dollar company? Just trying to gauge the potential over the long term here. Thanks!

Q: Hi
A few days ago I shorted TWTR at $52.00. My rational was that if the deal closes at $54.20 the downside is a few dollars and if the deal doesnt close the upside is $10.00 or more. Today Elon said the he would close the deal Friday. I also heard that TWTR would not trade Friday. I can (A) cover my short before Friday and take my loss or (B) hold on to my short in the hope that the deal never closes.
What happens to my short if I select option B? Will trading resume again, perhaps next week and I can cover my short or will Thursday be the end of trading TWTR? What happens to the shorts if TWTR doesn't trade again?
Thanks always for your insight

Q: Hello Peter & Ryan,
I also picked this up on the IPO, and it too has done poorly. is there a business case to keep this, or best to let it go?
Thank you as always...

Q: Hi Peter and Staff
Earlier this month Dollarama issued $700,000,000 of notes with a rate approximately of 5% with a substantial amount being used to repay notes with a rate just above 2 %
How significant is this additional interest cost per annum versus current earnings ?
Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: With the current rate rise most likely near the end , isn't it normal that the income stocks rally first?. Thereafter if the feds relay a slight slower change in the rates adjustments, the tech stock take off?
Q: I need to pull about $170,000 out of my TFSA to finish a house build. Can I put that amount plus the 2023 contribution in the new year or $81,500 plus the 2023 contribution?
Q: Hello, I have asked this question last Thursday morning, so just in case it got lost, here it is: these 2 ETFs seem to be similar, except for the lower MER for LIFE and the higher market cap for HHL, is there something to be aware of if I switch from HHL to LIFE for tax-loss reasons? Any disadvantage in putting money in LIFE? Is The Evolve business solid? Thanks.
Q: shop reports this week. as one of your favourite growth picks, can you tell us what YOU think shop will report. will they beat estimates. if not, why is it still a pick. what do you think you know that makes it a buy
Q: Which would you prefer for a shorter time frame of 2-3 years and why?
Q: Why is EQT down so much?
Q: In response to Rodney asking why Nat gas has been on the decline lately, here is some information on what may be causing the weak natural gas prices:
-Milder weather this fall resulting in less demand
-Freeport delays and energy market intervention in Europe helping consumers manage through the Winter
-Steep drop in broader US demand
-Record seasonal storage injection
-Drop in global LNG pricing (TTF pricing)

Q: Hi Guys
NFI had that warning today. Is there any hope for this company ...... given the backlog and their dominant position? It has been mentioned numerous times that it would be a good candidate for a takeover or buyout - would you agree?
Thanks
Stuart

Q: globe story saturday about shop and churn rate. story claims retention rate is lower that rivals and getting worse. as you continually rate shop as a top growth pick, what do you make of globe story. any concerns? is shop still a top pick.
Q: Peter; Any specific reason nat gas has dropped so much recently? Thanks. Rod
Q: We hold an all-equity portfolio with 40-45 stocks and ETFs. Core holdings are large-cap Canadian and U.S. companies. We assume that a full position of 40 names would be 2.5% of the portfolio. Top two holdings are BAM at 5.23% and CSU at 4.31%. At what level would you trim?
Also, the Brookfield family is presently 10.26% of the portfolio. What level would you trim there?
We are not planning to trim soon as 12 positions which are small-cap tech are sub .50% and we anticipate a reversal of large-cap dominance.

Q: HI 5I,
I have been reading, listening to my financial advisor and seeing some answers on your question blog that there may be an opportunity with bonds. I like ETF's the last while, so can you give me your advice on some ETF's that incorporate a high level of bonds that may see some upside if bonds were to have some capital appreciation. Thank-you
